Specs for Typhoon Trailer

Post by oyster22 »

I'm thinking about trying to buy a trailer for my Typhoon WEdr and storing the boat for the winter on it. Does anyone have experience w/ this kind of thing? I know Triad Systems makes a very nice new trailer for the Typhoon but they're a bit beyond my limited budget. Have other manufacturer's made trailers for the Typhoon ; are there generic ones of certain specs which will do the job. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Oyster22

Keep your eye on Ebay. Also try:

www.ezloader.com/

www.shorelander.com/

www.magictilt.com/

www.pacifictrailers.com/

www.karavantrailers.com/

www.loadmastertrailerco.com/

You can get hold of any used boat trailer that is big enough and strong enough and convert it to suitable use with appropriate parts from most trailer parts supply houses such as Champion Trailer Parts.

www.championtrailers.com

The Weekender is 18' 6" long and, with equipment, weighs in excess of 2,000 lbs.

Good luck,

Hi Oyster (or as they call them around here, "Oystiz". Here's a link to a bunch of photos of Tys or similar full keel boats on trailer, most of which are modified from their original use. My Ty and trailer are in the last 5 pics. It wasn't a very hard mod to do.

Oyster,
Road King has two facilities, one in NC and the other is in Ocala Fl.
I purchased my trailer from them and the trailer came with bunk boards which was less expensive than with screw pads. I later converted my trailer from bunk boards to screw pads for $50. I recommend you calling Dale at the Florida plant. He is a very nice person and will help you with a trailer anyway he can. I believe John Martin another Typhoon owner purchased his trailer from Road King. Check with John he can give you an idea what he did with Road King. If I remember correctly, he later ordered the screw pad assembly from Road King. I entered a post titled "Trailer Conversion"a while back.

If I can help you anyway just let me know!

Good Luck!
