Re: Typhoon clevis pin size
I don't know the answer to the what was original question but... The pin size should match the size of the tangs AND the forks. Small pins in large holes are not a good thing.

Re: Pro's & Con's of a Cape Dory MKII
Here are some pictures from the 2004 CD rendezvous "race". Michael Heintz owned Macht Nichts back then. In lighter winds Macht Nichts was faster but Mahalo was able to stand up to the heavier winds and we won. That is the only race we were ever in, we decided to quit while we were ahead :-...

Camco Spring Fresh It's available at many camping stores and also from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Camco-40207-TastePURE-Cleaner-Deodorizer/dp/B000EDUTQS/ If you are in a place where you winterize the tanks with non-toxic antifreeze use this stuff in the spring after draining the antifreeze. It d...

Re: Green stuff on deck/cockpit - What is it?
A scrub brush and "Simple Green" has worked well for us. For more stubborn stains and to slow down future growth chlorine bleach and TSP work even better. Bleach and TSP aren't the most environmentally friendly things. Real TSP isn't even available in some areas.

Re: CD 25D anode
It looks like you have plenty of room to use a propeller nut like these: https://www.boatzincs.com/propeller-nut-zinc-anodes.html The replaceable zinc is held on by a stainless steel allen head screw. The cotter pin for the nut lives under the zinc. I have no idea what size you need for the 25D, it ...

Re: CD 36 and Beta Engines
We replaced our Perkins with a Beta 38 with TMC60A 7 degree down angle transmission new beds. The down angle makes working on the engine much easier. I did need to modify the engine cover a bit to clear the engine. I believe someone else was able to do it without modifying the cover. I'm not sure wh...

Re: inspection port on holding tank
I found a replacement at the Hamilton Marine store a few years ago. I had also found some that don't fit right (Beckson IIRC) The one that I got was in a Bomar package but was marked PYHI . The one I found was black but that almost seems more appropriate :-). Anyway I think you can order them from H...

Re: Stay Too Short
I'm not sure what size pins your stays use but a toggle like this will add about an inch. This one has a 1/4" pin, other sizes are available. This is from the "Rigging Only" online store: https://www.riggingandhardware.com/p-41644-fixed-toggle-bronze-14-pin-ft8b.aspx Toggle.jpg

Re: easy to start small outboard motor
I have the Yamaha 6hp which is essentially the same as the 4hp (same displacement, same compression ratio). I really like the engine but it is probably significantly harder to pull start than your current Honda. It does reliably start on the first or second pull.

Re: Checking winch bolts...
I'm thinking somebody used brass rather than bronze bolts. It might have been a mixup from the supplier or some previous owner who just didn't know any better.

Re: "carpeted bulkheads" in the Typhoon Senior
Sorry for the S2 distraction but... From what I understand the S2 23 (also called 7.0) was sold as both a shoal draft and a centerboard version. I guess the CB versions sailed better but they only made them for a year or so. Later better designed S2 models were good sailing boats. The molds for the ...
