I have a CLC Eastport nesting pram. I only utilize the nesting feature transporting it in a truck. I think it would take two pairs of hands to get the back half out of the water and aboard, it's surprisingly heavy.
On the plus side it's a dream to tow, in comparison to an inflatable.

Would have liked to...
but now I know I have an air leak in the fuel system and the temp gauge is telling me not to get too heroic till I've cleaned out the cooling system, I'm going to stick closer to home and overnight in the far flung and exotic port of Gloucester this weekend.

Yup
That was me. Thought I saw a second CD heading to the start line. The crossing over to Georges was kinda choppy, the official start boat had just got into position and I didn't want to get in the way . Decided to head home, the weather report that morning was not encouraging. Shortly ended up (after...

A last minute decision
to head down to Peddocks Is. on Friday and at least watch the start of the race on Sat morning and cheer on the CD' ers. There was quite an electrical storm Friday night so I got off the anchorage kind of late, I think I saw a Cape Dory 28 or 30 ? edging up to the start line at about 10 - 10.30 am b...

Voltage regulator was intermittent
Thanks for the suggestions. Just to close out this thread I tried finding a replacement regulator for the SEV alternator but they are no longer available except maybe e-bay. I bought a Balmar single stage regulator, the BRS 12T. Its about their most basic model. My batteries are wet cell and I don't...

A slow discharge !
After becoming becalmed a number of miles from home port I discovered to my dismay that both batteries were no longer capable of starting the engine. The battery 'test' meter on my electrical panel had given up the ghost before I bought the the boat, but I had never bothered to replace it. Big Mista...

North shore boat yards
I store my boat at Manchester Marine just down the coast from you, and have had work carried out by them (engine removed/ overhauled, stern tube replaced/rebuilt, pss seal, new engine mounts, etc ) Their work has been of a good standard . They probably are one of the more expensive yards around, las...

I followed the instructions
I did my pedestal/binnacle two years ago. The original paint was badly chipped all around the base. I decided to paint it rather than try and remove the unit and have it re powder coated, due to the difficulty of getting it off the cockpit floor. I removed all the paint with a wire brush and sandpap...

New boat !!
Jeff, Congratulations on finding a great looking boat. I've been waiting in anticipation for a message after ypur last email. Is she the cd30 that was for sale in Whitehaven, NY. If so, I looked at the pictures, and she looks to be in really good shape, well taken care of with some nice features. Re...

Groco HC head failure.
My CD30 had a Groco HC head which started leaking around the base of the bowl. The HC has a PVC type base and the lower flange had cracked and distorted to the extent that the rubber seal was no longer effective. In fact there were a number of cracks in various places around the base and pump flange...

CD30 stern tube adventure.
Due to an accident two years ago involving a very strong gust of wind, some broken engine mounts and a lot of line wrapped around the prop, I had reason to discover the exact means by which the stern tube is attached on CD30's of the early 80's era. Some form of putty that had very little structural...

Bronze pin wear in steering idler wheel.
A thoughtful suggestion was made on being sure to replace the bronze axle pins in the steering idler wheels with SS pins, while I had the steering bracket out. So I thought I'd show one of the bronze pins I found..... about half worn through by the support bracket itself. All the pins show some wear...

I wish I could weld like that as well.... but no, it was done at Mike's Welding Co. in Revere, MA. They put in a heavier gauge tube and rebuilt up places where the rot had gotten to the centre assembly plate. I was tempted to try and remove the steering pedestal and clean that up as well, but gettin...
