Leaving the dock
The marina where I'll be keeping my boat this summer has assigned me the same damn slip I had last year. I asked them to give me a new one that would make every departure a modicum of fun instead of the stomach churning nerve wracking experience I had last year. But nooooo! So I asked to change it b...

Concensus on a battery manufacturer
Is there a particular marine battery manufacturer that the wide range of opinions on this wonderfully entertaining and valuably informative board might agree on?

Roller Reefing Boom
I would like to know how much of a pain is it to use the roller reefing boom (after letting go the boom vang) on my CD 25 when sailing single-handed compared with double reefing lines that run back to the cockpit. I mean, how do you, on your own, lower the halyard and turn the boom at the same time?...

Additional note
The price I quoted in the previous post was for boats 20 to 28 feet with a luff up to 30 feet.

Sail Flaking at 650 dollars
I have yet to confirm this but sailchoice.com/dutchman.html is indeed asking $645 for complete installation of the system on the boat and modifying the sail cover. For just the installation in the sail, the price is $405. The change required to the topping lift is simple and running the lines throug...

Dutchman Sail Flaking
When I bought my boat last year, it came with 2 main sails, one rather ancient and well worn, and a brand new loose footed Dacron UK Sail. Naturally I put up the brand new sail but found it impossible to control when lowering the sail single handed. And it was too large to fit in the sail cover. So ...

Re: Solar panel
Carter: I see Morningstar has a large number of products. Which particular charge controller did you use on your CD? Thanks, Nigel On Mary Ellen, I installed a 12-volt waterproof socket under the combing board to port, just aft of the companionway. It led to a Morningstar PWM charge controller screw...

Sagging Side DEcks on CD25
I have the same problems of pooling on the side decks adjacent to the forward end of the combing and widening of the top of the companionway opening. I wondered if those you who were experimenting with jacking up the deck, putting in drains, etc had any further thoughts on this problem. Thank you in...

CD25 - Aft Lower Shroud Question
On a CD25, in order to have better control of the sideways movement of the mast when raising or lowering it, is it possible or even wise to keep the aft lower shrouds attached to the deck?

Automatic Charging Relay
Does anyone have an opinion about the ACR from Blue Sea Systems described in the new West Marine Catalogue page 615?For somebody like myself who isn't totally understanding what is going on with alternators and regulators and batteries, it seems like a way to avoid needing to find a tow because the ...
