Automatic Charging Relay

Does anyone have an opinion about the ACR from Blue Sea Systems described in the new West Marine Catalogue page 615?For somebody like myself who isn't totally understanding what is going on with alternators and regulators and batteries, it seems like a way to avoid needing to find a tow because the batteries are dead.
