Hi Cathy,
I'd be interested if it were after 7/29. I have the same problem each year of a family vacation in Fairfield which this year is 7/15-7/29. I am retired now so I might try to put something together some time during the summer in CT or RI.

Re: Re-powering a 25D
I put a Beta 14 in my 25D some time back at the same time my dear departed friend Bill Chapple had one installed in his 27. They were side by side in the shop over the winter. My 1 GM had to come out for an unrelated reason and I decided it made sense to make the switch given the age of the engine a...

Re: towing walker bay 8
I'm surprised to hear the Puffin referred to a expensive. My impression is that it's priced much lower than most of the other fiberglass dinghies, at about $1000. I also sold a Walker 8 and switched to a Puffin 8'6" a few years ago. It amazed me that a boat with the same beam and length could ...

Passing of Bill Chapple
I feel it is appropriate to pass along the news of the passing of a very nice man who shared our love for Cape Dory. Bill was my mooring mate and was always next to me on the hard. He was an active member of the Northeast Fleet and was close to Joe Montana and Steve Laume who also call Noank, CT hom...

Re: towing walker bay 8
Sea Hunt - I have added the collar to the WB 8 and frankly for coastal cruising and rowing and towing behind a 25D I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better boat for the money. In my case someone gave me the shell for free and I just had to purchase the ring which I did last winter for about $5...

Thanks Cathy. That is an excellent post for someone like me who is right down the river from the Morgan and would probably have missed all that! Dick

Re: How to heave to
I heave to when single handing in order to drop my main. Much easier, especially when it's blowing a ton. Safer too. I ask because on those very few times I have single handed I have: (1) started the engine; (2) headed into the wind; (3) furled the Genoa; and (4) worked my way to the mast to drop t...

Re: Excited new CD 25D owner
Hello. And welcome. I am a relatively new 25D owner myself. 1982 hull #62. The best thing you can do is not force her. By that I mean, less sail. She'll take a lot of sail but you'll both be uncomfortable. I sailed a lot fighting the tiller, healed way over before I tried reefing at 12 knots or so ...

Re: Replacing original pressurized alcohol stove on 25D
Trapper, A fret saw is a type of coping saw. They come in varying throat depths. A variety of (tpi) teeth per inch blades are available. O J O J, Can I talk you into coming down to Mystic to show me how to use it? Hope you're doing well. I imagine you'll be shoveling the white stuff fairly soon. Dick

Re: Replacing original pressurized alcohol stove on 25D
I just checked the measurements of the Origo and the one I bought and they are real close. If Neil had to cut a little out of the countertop, then I bet Ben had to do the same as I suspect we all had the same old stove. I know that the depth is fine the footprint may be just a little larger. I reca...

Re: Replacing original pressurized alcohol stove on 25D
I replaced mine with this unit http://www.swego.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=12&idproduct=5 It fits perfectly. How does it work? Don't know. I have never used it! So it fit depth wise without having to remove or at least modify the position of the drawer? If so that model looks very prom...
