Helpful hint #1: If you have the notion that any particular piece of gear in your basement or garage is something you need to retain, "just in case," ask your First Mate for advice. That will insure that it ends up on the raffle table.
Helpful hint #2: Do not ask if the gear in question is "functional." That will insure that it ends up in the trash.
Now that Santa has rewarded you with a "new and improved" widget you have a golden opportunity to recycle that formerly loved and cherished widget by adding it to our Nautical Raffle as an attendee of the Northeast Fleet Winter Meeting! Just think of the carbon credits you'll accrue!
With the New Year nearly upon us it's time to consider some important New Years resolutions. Top of the list should be to attend the Northeast Fleet Winter Meeting followed closely by supporting the Nautical Raffle
As long as it has a nautical theme you may even be able to rid yourself of that ugly sweater your brother in law gave you
Spent some January 1 time sorting through basement boat stuff. Here's my preview on the all important nautical raffle:
Assorted chart kits, from Cape May to the Canadian Border. They're a bit out of date but perfect for planning, framing or whatever.
Assorted cruising guides, no more dated than the chart kits. Perfect for thumbing through while sipping single malt on a cold winter afternoon/evening.
1/4" chain, perfect for your lunch hook. (Don't have a lunch hook? Maybe someone will bring one along to the Winter Meeting!)
Whatever bits and pieces of MD7A parts and spares I might have. I found a perfectly good alternator belt, a sender for something or other, some seals that are universally out of stock worldwide, some manuals, and maybe more.
There's still more for me to go through... no telling what else I'll find!
Now that an Arctic air mass has descended upon the Northeast it's time to get those checks in the mail so we can all enjoy a warm repast and top off our anti-freeze among our sailing friends. We now have sixteen days left to continue accumulating our new and used sailing related gear for the world famous Nautical Raffle. See you there with sailing related gear!
We will see some snow tomorrow but keep in mind the venue is only a half mile off I95. Dan Malloy has assured me that the state has every intention of keeping the state's highways plowed to assure access for CDSOA members to attend our Winter Meeting. See you there folks.

How much influence does your buddy Dan have here in Central Massachusetts?
Still planning to come. Should we bring sleeping bags?
