Northeast Fleet Annual Meeting Update
Attention Northeast Fleet members:
Be sure to bring your questions about sail design, sail shape, and sail care, as well as boat canvas, when you attend the NE Fleet's Annual Meeting on Saturday, January 18. This year's guest speaker will be Cape Cod-based sailmaker Marc Daniels (of Squeteague Sailmakers), who will share his knowledge and address these subjects and more.
In addition to attending with first mates/significant others, be sure to bring useable surplus sailing items for inclusion in the third annual Equipment Swap. The meeting, along with a delicious Captain's Buffet, will take place at Flanders Fish Market & Restaurant in East Lyme, CT, where we will enjoy an afternoon of good company and hold the Fleet's Annual Business Meeting, at which time I will pass the four-striper's burgee on to my successor as a new slate of fleet officers is elected.
Please watch the "Fleet Events" page and the "Masthead" for further details.
Thanks to all of you for participating.
Reminder: New members can attend the meeting free of charge! Please come!

Congrats and let's give our full support to our new Northeast Fleet officers: Dick Kobayashi, Fleet Captain, and Dick Barthel, Fleet Secretary/Treasurer.Jim Walsh wrote:... the election of officers went smoothly ...
As they retire from their current positions, thank you to Joe Myerson for giving us two good years as Fleet Captain, to Dick Barthel for countless years as Fleet Lt., and to Carl Thunberg for his four years as Fleet Secretary/Treasurer.
Great seeing everybody yesterday!

Minor Correction
Actually, I was only Fleet Secretary for two years, not four. Sorry I missed everyone. I had to work. Yes, I know it's a four letter word.

Re: Northeast Fleet Annual Meeting Update
I enjoy seeing pictures of our fellow sailors at the meetings. It would be nice to have names to go with the individuals in the pix. I will probably never have the pleasure of meeting the members that I have been reading about for all these many years. Names with the pix are next best to satisfy my interest.
Best regards.

Re: Northeast Fleet Annual Meeting Update
Good point, OJ. Back in the Film Age, when I worked for newspapers (remember them?), we were forbidden on pain of mutilation from submitting a photo without caption information. Since Bob is too young to have gone through that kind of apprenticeship, let me provide caption info:
PHOTO 1: Past and present fleet captains:
Shown, from left are: Leo MacDonald, former fleet captain and CDSOA Commodore; Neil Gordon, former fleet captain and current Vice Commodore; Dick Kobayashi, incoming fleet captain; Joe Myerson, outgoing captain; Cathy Monaghan, former fleet captain and chief webmaster; Bob Emmons, former fleet captain and former CD owner--but still a loyal member, even though he sails a Shannon.
PHOTO 2: Scene of folks standing and sitting:
Standing, from left: Leo MacDonald and Bruce Halley; Seated at table in foreground, from left: Joe Montana and Dick Barthel, incoming secretary/treasurer.
Hope this helps.
BTW, both pictures were shot by Bob Dugan
OOps, time to revise my signature line.
