This feedback has been good and I appreciate it. I have decided against the metal for now. $2000 can buy a lot of Signature Finish. I'll re-evaluate in another year.
Thanks to my fellow CD owners.

Cape Dory Rub Rail

Hello members. I need some advice regarding the rub rails for my CD 27. The rails are in beautiful shape with appropriate coats of Signature Finish. Looks great. However, my boat came without the brass metal protective strip, which most CD seem to have, leaving the rails vulnerable. The boat is curr...

Thanks John. I think I understand what you describe. I failed to explain earlier that my wires exit the base of the mast on the port side and enter the cabin top about 3" from the base, between the base and the dorade. The only intrusion point within the mast are the 4 bolts that secure the ste...

Cabin Top leak: Cape Dory 27

Hi Board, I am the owner a 1980 CD 27 (and a beautiful Ty). My question is about the '27. I have been searching for the source of a top cabin leak. I became the owner a year ago, but the problem can be traced back to 2000 when a PO posted a similar Q to the board. Here are the bullets: Water is find...

rusty chain plates

I have received valuable feedback everyone regarding my question about outside chain plates. I have decided to remain committed to resolving the problem with an internal solution and keeping the original appearance of my boat. I was really encouraged that what may appear exigent to my inexperienced ...

Rusty Chain Plates

I have discovered that the chain plates on "new" 1980 CD 27 are significantly rusty and have to be addressed. I am sure it will be expensive. Has anyone considered moving the chain plates on a Cape Dory to the outside hull? If so, can you provide details and photo of the completed work. Ar...

CD 27 interior teak color

I have a CD 27 and the original interior teak is rather dark (rich). I am trying to match a repair job. Does anyone have a ball park idea of what CD used for a dark teak option? Nothing at Lowes/Home Depot comes close and I have tried the Watco Cherry.

Has anyone developed a beam to beam berth on a CD 27? If so, how did you arrange the supports?

dodger and bimini for a Ty

I posted a similar message a while back but have lost all replys. Can anyone advise me on a source for a dodger/bimini for a Ty? Also, any issues to be concerned about, such as their practicality or lack thereof?

Typhoon advice

I am purchasing a TY and need to consider a dodger and bimini. Are they feasible? Is the boom too low for a bimini? Any advice on trailering a Ty that has roller furling? Any concerns? Does the boat it pull well assuming it is on a good trailer? How does one secure the mast, which will be laid acros...

I apreciate the advice on the Triad trailer. They are expensive but probably worth it.

About the CD 22 in Ga. I would be interested in more information as it comes available. Thanks

Trailering a CD 22

Within the next month or so I will be considering the purchase of a CD 22. Trailering the boat, ocassionally, is a must. Any advice on the type/brand of trailer I should get. Any advice on how to install a hinged mast step if the boat doesn't have one?
