Hello Becky and Lance:
Thank you very much for thinking of me. It is very kind.
I looked very carefully at your website (blog ) when you first posted S/V Sojourner for sail. She is very nice. More important, there are comments from people on this board that have dealt with you. They speak very highly of both of you. That is more important, at least to me, than all the photos, promises, and assurances in any "for sale" ad. When I bought S/V Tadpole in April 2008, I was cautious of the seller because I did not know him. Now, candidly, I would buy almost anything from Rob Roberts, sight unseen, because I now know him to be an honest, trustworthy person. With very rare exceptions I have found CD owners to be very nice, honest and trustworthy. Conflicted and often reluctant to sell, yes, but honest and trustworthy. Coming from my world these are important qualities in a person.
Unfortunately, I do not believe I have the skills, training, experience, etc., to handle a CD 28, especially single handed (which is what I will be doing 95% of the time). Sailors like Neil G., Stan W., and many others are all very experienced ocean sailors. A CD 28, or even larger, is ideal for them. I think I would be getting in over my head with a CD 28. I am searching for a CD 25D because, although I think it also above my skill level, I am hopeful I can "grow into it" with a lot of time and effort.
Again, my sincere thanks for thinking of me.

Sea Hunt... you will not be sorry if you buy this boat!
Sea Hunt, I started w/ an O'Day 22 (outgrew it), went to a 25D (outgrew that) and solo sail a CD30 (VERY similar to the CD28) all the time. You will grow with a CD25D, but you will want more. Solo sailing a CD28 or larger is nothing more than being coached, practicing, and developing self confidence. This is a great opportunity for you and probably only a couple of bucks more than a 25D. You will be hard pressed to find another boat in this condition!

Thanks Bob.
With the club footed jib arrangement on the 28, it will probably be easier to single-hand than the 25D.

Hello Drew:
Thanks for thinking of me. I checked on transport costs from Granby, Colorado to Miami. VERY, VERY high. Not sure why. Possibly because it is sort of out of the way.
While the trailer is a nice option, my old (200,000 miles) Chevy truck is definitely not capable of pulling her from Granby to Miami (2,200 miles). I think she could barely pull a CD 25D locally.
The owner/seller has done a lot to personalize this CD 25D. Some of his ideas and modifications look very interesting.
The search continues.

Transport
I feel your pain, SeaHunt! But it occurs that, as the seller appears tow-capable, you might work delivery into a deal? Would be in his best interest to move it anyway, I am guessing. Trying to sell a Cape Dory in Colorado strikes me as akin to selling a Massey Ferguson in Manhattan
Seahunt.... I pulled my 80 Typhoon from Western Slope, Colorado to No. Alabama in April. Hauled the boat on a single axle trailer with an '01 4 Runner (96K) and had no trouble at all. I had two passes to pull driving from Vail; coming from Granby (Grand Lake) with the CD25D you will have only one.... Eisenhower Tunnel ( I would not use Berthoud Pass). After that is was interstate all the way home except for the last 30/40 miles. Two nights on the road for me; usually 10-12 hr days driving. Why don't you make arrangements with seller to meet you somewhere on the front range; get the boat out of the mtns. Then you could take over and bring it back to Fla. I have made the drive between Ala and Colo many, many times over the past 40 yrs.... be glad to help with suggested routes. I have also pulled a small sailboat from Colo to St Pete Beach.... know the southern routes as well. Can't be that hard if this is THE BOAT for you... hank
