If you plan on doing any cruising I would suggest looking at the 28. They are quite a bit more boat than a 27, and there are some great deals out there.
2 cents from a happy 28 owner.

Perhaps you could have Debbie talk to Rebekah. I can't seem to convince her of the staying home and working part. If you need crew please call. Cheers.

CD28 Mainsail
Who knows the sail area of the mainsail alone on a cd 28? I am planning on replacing my traveler. I would love to hear any experiences on this.
Thanks, Axel

2 Questions
I just finished reading "london goes to sea" again. Now I am thinking spring, and have a couple questions regarding my cd28. 1) I am interested in hearing peoples experiences with the tiller auto pilots. I was looking at the st2000 and the next size up. It seems the 28 falls right in the m...

boat or no boat
Boat or no boat Robert gave up his Maine lobster for my wife, Rebekah, during the 2007 Maine cruise, what a guy!!! However in order for us to celebrate again you better get a boat and start your journey north soon.
Good luck.
Good luck.

check this
Try replacing your ignition switch. It could be a faulty wire sometimes making the connection. I had this problem and it was just the switch and very inexpensive to rule out.

cd 30'
I have been told by the crew at RMC that the cd 30 was built off the same mold as the cd 28 whith one foot fore and aft added. That makes me think that they had something to do with the design. I also imagine that the design that the cd28 was modeled after is much older around John Aldens designing ...

removing air from coolant
When my engine started overheating my first thought was to rev the engine as described in my manual to remove any air that may be trapped in the coolant. I just noticed on a diagram of my engine a little thing labeled "coolant air bleed", this may sound silly, but does this have to be open...

thermostat engine info
Well the engine is a universal M18. I do have what seems to be plenty of water coming out. I can run the enine for about a half hour then it seems to overheat up to 200. I am not sure where to start so I figured I would eliminate the thermostat and sending unit by replacing them. Sometimes if I let ...

Thermostat
My cd28 sail is overheating. I think it is time to replace the thermostat just to eliminate one variable of why. How big of a job is this? Are there any special tools and what else should I do while I am in there?
Thanks for you help...

CD28
I have a 1985 cd28 which is powered with a universal 18 (14 hp). I have only cruised through Maine, but the 14hp seems to be plenty of power. I you were planning on spending a lot of time sailing the rivers in Maine where the currents can reach 8 knots you may want more power. But 14 horses goes hul...

door to head
I removed the bifold door to the v-berth and it made things a whole lot easier. Doing so I always give the woman guests the v-berth for privacy. Not that there is an privacy on a 28' sailboat..
