Thanks Neil! Congrats Joe!

Much to our dismay, Tom and I have been unable to attend the last few winter meetings.

To Neil--thanks for the great job for the last two years. And congratulations to Joe--a mighty fine choice to follow in Neil's wake. Looking forward to the 2012 sailing season and NE fleet events!

Check for compression under the mast

Coach roof and deck on the Ty can become compressed from over tightening the rigging or just stress. Many Tys have been fitted with a compression post under the mast or have beefed up knees. It's worth it to hire a good surveyor.

Good luck!

Would those against THIS specific change please explain...

This seems to be a well-thought-out change. I can understand all the reasons for not indiscriminately allowing just anyone to join as full members. But the two parts of this proposed by-law change don't throw open the doors to just anyone. Full-membership for non-CD owners is limited to those former...

Wouldn't water and moisture get trapped between the plywood/starboard and the backing plate and cause the steel rust even worse than if it were left exposed? I bought a can of pricey metal primer six years ago with the intent to clean and paint our rusty plate but it seems like such a nasty, intimid...

Re: Wallas Stove

I've seen these diesel stoves (Wallas, link below) advertsied and installed in boats but have never used one or been around when one is in use. the idea seems to make sense to me. Just curious if anyone has any experience. http://www.scanmarineusa.com/wallas_stove_85DU.pdf I was very interested in ...

Tennis "Cape Dory" / Feb. 28, Great Scott, Allston

A bit late for two geezers on a Monday night, but Tom and I are planning to go. If anyone else is interested, see the links below for more info. Their album "Cape Dory" is available on their web page or from iTunes. Hey Neil, does this qualify to be posted as an official Northeast Fleet ev...

Some Photos

Have to relearn how to post pictures every time but finally got to putting up some of Tom's photos from the regatta. Thanks for the congrats. We really missed not having the usual contingent of CDs participating. Hope everyone can make it next year, this event has become the one of the highlights of...

We had a blast...

...and the kudos go to Stan for sparing us from an ignominious last place finish--which is where we would've been without his tactical guidance and general coaching. You're being kind, Stan, laying the blame of our 32nd place finish on our archaically equipped boat rather than the pathetically out-c...

Reuse your shrink wrap

We store our boat in our back yard and are on our fifth year reusing the brand new original shrink wrap that was on our boat when we bought it. Tom's cousin told us that if you carefully unroll it in the spring from the stern to bow and store it somewhere mouse-free, you can unroll it and put it bac...

Thanks Klem, Thanks Neil. You've given us quite a few options for dealing with the dinghy. We had some trepidation leaving it on a mooring unattended at Peddocks--if someone made off with it or the motor, that would make for a pretty unpleasant stay with 2 dogs aboard. But you and Jeff feel it's ok-...

Re: CD25 Sprite

I'm wondering about bringing the dinghy -- since we'd have to leave her tied up for the day and then retrieve her. Jeff Hey Jeff, what was so "interesting" about leaving your dinghy tied up? We've been pondering what to do with ours. Is there a pier at Georges Island that we can pull up t...

Watching the weather for BHIR/Peddocks Island

Wondering who else is planning to go to the Harbor Islands regatta and/or Peddocks float-in. Looks like 3 CDs have entered so far--a TY Senior, a 25 and our CD28. Last couple of years we were kept south by waves and N winds on the nose. Keeping our fingers crossed for this year.
