Re: Typhoon rigging
We have a 1974 Ty Weekender (Hull #600) that we bought last February. It came with a symmetrical spinnaker, and it has some rigging elements in place, including an eye strap on the mast just above the top of the headstay (presumably for a halyard block) and another of the same in what appears to be ...

Re: Hoist Launching Typhoon
Thanks! That is very helpful. I had wondered if that aft strap could go aft of the keel altogether, thus avoiding the issue of potential damage to the rudder by a misplaced strap. Do you know the approximate lengths of the fore and aft straps? If I go this route, I'll need to order a set of my own.

Typhoon Sail (Class) Number
Hi. I am a new owner of a 1974 CD Typhoon Weekender. The manufacturers plate appears to say it is hull number 600 (and the full HIN has that number in the middle. The boat's only mainsail, a reasonably new one, has neither number nor insignia. For Typhoons that do have sail numbers, are these Class ...

Re: Hoist Launching Typhoon
Thanks, Cathy. I have seen that helpful post. I'm just trying to figure out a system for ensuring that aft strap is in the right place when we hoist the boat out of the water. That, and I am looking for some advice as to what length of straps to use. I wonder if anyone has used spreader bars, one on...

Re: Hoist Launching Typhoon
Thanks, Dick, I appreciate the advice. We have ramp launched the CD, and while it went generally well we found the process challenging. Getting the extendable trailer tongue in and out was difficult, as was getting the boat properly seated on the trailer when we hauled out (it took us two attempts)....

Re: Ramp Launching New Owner
Just to report back on our first ramp launch, everything went fine. We had some trouble getting the extension lock pin holes to line up once fully extended until we figured out that trying to do that with the tow vehicle (which was still hooked up) wasn't going to work. Unhitching and making the adj...

Re: torqueedo shaft length
Hi. I'm a new Typhoon Weekender owner interested in swapping out our current gas 4 stroke for a Torqueedo electric motor. Radsailor, you said you got model 1103 CS for your boat. Does the short shaft work okay for the typhoon? I'd assumed, because our current gas motor is long shaft, that I'd need a...

Hoist Launching Typhoon
Hello. We are the new owners of a 1974 CD Typhoon Weekender. While we await a slip becoming available, we will be either ramp or hoist launching. I've already posted some questions about ramps and the process of extending our trailer tongue, but I also have questions about lifting straps for use wit...

Ramp Launching New Owner
Hi. I am a new CD Typhoon Weekender (1974) owner in Santa Cruz, CA. While I am on the list for a slip or dry dock space, for a year or two we'll be ramp launching and hauling out when we sail. Our boat sits on an EZ Loader trailer with an extendable tongue. The SC Harbor ramp is steep and well maint...

Re: Typhoon Hoist Strap
Hello. I am the happy owner of a 1974 CD Typhoon Weekender here in Santa Cruz, CA. Though we are on a waitlist for a slip in our crowded little harbor, we will be dry sailing using a hoist at our club until one comes available. Hence, I am interested in reviving this conversation about lifting strap...
