Re: YSM8 engine alignment and ??
LOL Hello and thanks Fred - great story! I did research the engine a bit before I bought the boat and read one of it's design purposes was in fact to run irrigation pumps :) I probably shouldn't jinx it but it has run very reliably so far. It might just be me being overly cautious. One of these days...

YSM8 engine alignment and ??
Hello All... I was hoping some of you could help me identify this beige part / spacer thing in my drive train. The engine is a YSM8 in a CD27. Lately I've been feeling like there's more vibration then usual when I'm in gear. I have a brand new cutlass bearing, installed this season. The prop and sha...

Re: CD 30MK2 Question on Reverse Movement (L or R)
I have a CD27 with A Yanmar YSM8 It backs to starboard...I tie up to the finger on stbd because, on the side of the dock I'm on, momentum carries me into the slip and onto the finger when landing. When backing out, especially if I have crew, I try to walk it out as far as we can then pop it into rev...

shroud tension question?
And here it is, yet another one of my many questions lol. Thank you in advance for your help. I am about to launch my CD-27 for the season here in Connecticut. The mast was pulled and my understanding is, while they will do a general setup. the rig won't be exactly tuned. My uppers are 7/32nds and m...

Perry nut zinc alternative?
IMG_6546.jpg Hello All. I have a question about finding an alternative to using the Perry nut zinc on the end of my CD27 shaft. First of all, I have to grind out the flats on the interior of the zinc with my Dremel to fit over my prop nut. I have tried several different nuts. Also in our marina the...

Cutlass Bearing Replacement
Hello all - So here's my rookie question of the day :) (so many questions). While struggling to get the prop off of my CD27(another story) I do notice there is some play in the shaft where it passes through the bearing. If I grab hold and wiggle it, there's a little bit of play. Maybe a 16th of an i...

Starter wiring problem, maybe?
Hi All, Once again, turning to you all for advice and the benefit of your accumulated knowledge and experiences. I bought Spirit, a '81 CD27 (YSM8 engine) last season mid-summer. I'm still learning about and bonding with her. Today's question is about the ignition wiring for the starter or, from the...
