Not to be contrary - and with respect to DanPat - be sure to do your own research regarding barrier coating to determine if it is the best option for your situation.

I can't say that I have a favorite since I haven't had the pleasure of sanding and painting more than one deck, but we used Interlux's Brightside Polyurethane on Ariel and so far so good. Another option, of course, is Interdeck, which already has nonskid compound mixed in. I've heard good things abo...

I had good luck with a paint scraper and 80 grit paper on our CD36. You can read about it here: http://www.ariel-cd36.org/projects_bottomwork.htm

Warren, I second Bill's suggestion about an angle grinder. It does have its pros and cons, though. Pro: it will make short work of your epoxy mound. Con: it will make short work of your epoxy mound. If you go that route, proceed carefully. In the area of good sanders, I've had good luck with a 6&quo...

Fatty Knees

You might look into this nice little design in the 9' model. I had a Fatty Knees as a kid and absolutely loved it - wish we had it now. http://www.fattyknees.com/index.html

Don't list with ABL

I listed a boat with ABL a little over a year ago. Terrible customer service, errors in listing, unreturned communications, scores of complaints filed against them with the BBB, not a single inquiry as a result of their site - unless you're in the market for email scams from third world countries. D...

Perhaps a little offbeat, but...

I'd add Homer's Odyssey to the list - preferably the Mandelbaum or Fagles translation. It's certainly an enjoyable change of literary scenery and style.

Perhaps I'm out of my league here - at 30 years of age - but I thought I'd share a quote that I plan on taking with me into my autumn years. It is excerpted from Emerson's Terminus . As the bird trims her to the gale, I trim myself to the storm of time; I man the rudder, reef the sail, obey the voic...

Perhaps the CD28 club-footed jib arrangement would work for what you're suggesting. Fred (s/v FeNix) has one listed for sale on his site: http://www.sbastro.com/FeNIX/sale.htm.

Mast support

Cory,

Congratulations on the new Ty!! I suppose you could do what larger boats do: support the mast with a sawhorse or some similar arrangement located on the foredeck. It shouldn't be too hard to construct something out of a couple of 2x4s that will do the job.

Good luck,
