Re: Pulpit Harbor (Maine) report
The head of Minsters Creek is a great place to get mussels at mid to low tide. It's virtually lined with them. Just scoop up a bucket full and you have a meal. Cook in a pot with a can of beer (Guinness is my choice), butter, some seasoning and just enough water to cover your haul.

Re: Standing rigging replacement
Thanks Rich. Labor is about $750. It was a pretty detailed estimate. Not counting wire about 40+ parts.

Their forum is not real active but it is all electronics / electrical related. Someone might have a source.

Re: Source for MC 4 Connectors?
Hi everyone. I need a couple Staubli MC 4 connectors for 12 AWG. They are four my second solar panel. Anyone know where I can get them? I have a couple but they are not complete. Rod Collins at Marine How To (Formerly Compass Base) had a serious stroke in early September. His retail store is closed...

Standing rigging replacement
Just got an estimate to replace all the 35 year old standing rigging on my MS 300 Motor Sailor for about $2,500. I know there are not many MS 300 owners but does that sound reasonable?

Re: Dinks. Size and where to put em?
Like Carl said you need to figure out your needs. I’ve owned a 9’ plywood floor hypalon dinghy (1 year), a 12’ Avon Hypalon RIB with a 25 HP OB (20+ years) a 9’ Dyer Dow sailing dinghy (5 years) and a 10’6” West Marine / Avon Hypalon RIB w 4 & 6 HP OBs (16 years and still going strong). All were...

Re: Small Jib
If I hadn’t sold my Typhoon last summer I probably would have added a furling head sail. I too was trying to keep it simple and did rig a down haul. All that is needed is to add a small block near the tack of the jib and a path to run it to the cockpit. The line can be pretty light. It worked OK but...

Re: Cape Dory Motorsailer chain plate bolts
Here are a couple of picture that show how the upper chain plates are installed in the 300ms ( motorsailer). The first is of the chain plate and bolts and I annotated it to show how it is attached to the hull and deck. The second is an exterior picture of the boat. As you can see from the second pi...

Re: Suggestions for winter gloves.
I'm headed up to visit VA and MD to look at a boat or two next week. I haven't been up north in the winter for 25 years. What kind of gloves are people using these days? Last time I worked outside in the cold was 1982. I was a locksmith apprentice / door mechanic and found myself taking gloves on a...

We also used East Coast Embroidery about five years back. The cost for eight ports was $260. Identical to the original, half hull and lined.

Re: Welcome Cape Dory Powerboat owners
If I am not mistaken I believe the designer may be Clive Dent who also designed the MS 300. Thought he did all the CD power yachts.mgphl52 wrote:Wow... I just did a quick search on this site & with google... no where can I find a designer name.Sleepwalker wrote: Do you know who designed the 24?

We also use Damp-Rid through out the year. It does a good job of keeping the level of moisture in the boat down.

Only one of three Cape Dory 45
Just happened to notice this Cape Dory 45 Fiona Riose for sale in Camden Maine. Chartered her more than 15 years back. Beautiful boat.

Re: Updating the Legacy Engine Instrument Panel on a CD 22D
Does anyone know what modern options are out there for updating the legacy engine instrument/starter/alarm panel? The one on my 22D looks very close to what I've seen on 25Ds so I'm wondering of Cape Dory basically used the same on on all of the Yanmar-equipped diesel model? Any idea what brand it ...
