Thank you, all.
Neil, Steve, Joe and Duncan, Thanks for the advice and trial experience. I didn't go out yesterday to drop the genoa because the NOAA wind data showed conditions as blustery as the day before. The weather forecast for today was for lighter winds so I was able to get someone to cover me at work and I...

Re: CD28 - Really?
From what I've read on this board and seen of older CD28s listed for sale on the internet, that is true.K_LeMans wrote:
So my question is, is this really a CD? Were the early boats that much different in finish and hardware? Just wondering.......

Advice on removing genoa
Any good tips for removing a furling genoa in moderate winds? Yesterday I tried to decrease the windage on my CD26 in preparation for Irene by removing all the canvas but in the 25knot gusts I gave up on the genoa after getting face-whipped a few times by the clew/sheets. I tried rolling up the leec...

Pic of my deck
Here's a picture of my deck and cabin top, showing a Schaefer deck organizer capable of handling 4 lines, a Spinlock clutch for 3 lines, and a Lewmar 6 winch (non self-tailing). http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa182/pakehaole/CD26/cd2618.jpg All are mounted on teak bases. Although I didn't do the...

Defender has them
Defender has them. A lower price is quoted if you add one to your cart (I hate when they do that; do they really think I'm gonna forget to remove something that I don't want when I check out?).

Think of the 25d as a bigger Typhoon
Robert,
I mostly single-hand my CD26 and find that I don't use the self-tailing feature of my genoa winches very often. I use the winch without a handle to haul in the sheets but then just cleat them on the coaming cleat, as you probably did on the Tadpole.

"Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost"
Robert, This thread may actually have wandered back to your original query: http://woodenboat.com/boat/?tag=nesting-dinghy The date of the article may not fit the time frame but the magazine is the right one and the dinghy is Joe's Japanese lantern. Also, I have a 3-piece nesting dinghy in the shed ...

Re: For a different approach: The Stasha skin-on-frame dingh
Here's another take on a build-it-yourself, nesting dinghy: the ultralight Stasha. This boat was designed to store on the foredeck of a Dana 24, so I'm assuming it would work on a 25D (perhaps on the coach roof if not on the foredeck). http://www.duckworksbbs.com/plans/benjamin/stasha/index.htm Rem...

"Simple Jacks"
Thanks for the pics, Gary. As they say, "Picture worth thousand words" and "KISS". I also like the suggestion I read on a link from the earlier, related thread of marking the luff folds with a red or green marker depending on which side of the boom they fall on.

Re: Try this first.
I believe I found this in Good Old Boat magazine. When your main sail is flaked on the boom tie a small line (fairly tight) from the second reef point to the topping lift. Do the same from the first reef point. Gary Gary, I assume you're talking about tying lines on either side of the main, running...
