Re: Spartan Seacocks - to overhaul or not?
Others have noted that heat applied to the casing will cause it to expand but the plug won't expand as much.

Cunningham for CD25D
I'm planning to add a simple Cunningham to my 25D. If anyone has a sketch or photo, I'd appreciate it. Sailing on Lake Michigan.
Thanks,
John

Re: CD25D fuel level
My CD25D has a fuel gauge on the port side of the tank. There is a small door on the inside of the port lazarette for viewing the gauge. I believe capacity is 8 gallons.

Re: Right of Way
The Rules require a skipper to 'violate the rules' to avoid collision. Rule 17, 83.17 (a) (ii): The (stand on) vessel may, however, take action to avoid collision by her maneuver alone, as soon as it becomes apparent to her that the vessel required to keep out of the way is not taking appropriate ac...

Re: CD 22D Diesel Fuel & Diesel Fuel Tank Questions
I bought a CD25D several years ago with the same engine, Yanmar 1GM. I rarely go through a tank of gas each season and have had no problems. My engine mechanic suggested adding a container of Sea Foam when I refuel at the beginning of each season. You can find it at any auto parts store. I've had no...

Re: Varnish Recommendations
Second the comment on brushes. The pros I have learned from all use foam brushes. The Jen brand, available from JD, Amazon, and online from Home Depot, is the only decent one. No cleaning, solvent to dispose of, pretty much the same results. The good thing about any finish is that it is reversible. ...

Re: Varnish Recommendations
I've tried several different systems over the years--oil, Bristol, Cetol, and finally Epifanes. Epifanes is the most durable but requires the most initial time and effort. In part it depends on what you want. I must say that I get more comments on my brightwork than anything else, including a comple...

Re: Coats of varnish
Keep in mind that the number of coats depends on the product. No sanding between coats of Cetol, so the build is pretty good, especially if you finish with the gloss. But it's soft so it wears easily. If you use Epifanes, sanding removes about a half a coat each time, so 10 coats is really closer to...

I'm not sure what the masthead looks like on a typhoon.
For my assym on my CD25D, I used one of the K-10593 from Rig-Rite:

Re: CD25D Engines from 1981-1985
I have CD25D hull #126. The VIN indicates she was built/launched in August 1983, with the 1GM.
She's a little underpowered in a headwind. No plans to replace the engine unless necessary.

Dwyer Mast also sells halyard plates if they are still in business. The DH 2890 fit my CD25D just right.

Re: Cleaning interior teak slats
I'm working on the same project this fall/winter on my CD25D. I'm using Epifanes interior satin/rubbed finish. Three coats of thinned regular Epifanes as a base, two coats of the satin, and it looks great. Although I addressed the source of the leaks that stained the ash strips, now I know that they...

Re: 1 GM leaking water
If water appears to be dripping from the water pump, it could be the seal. There are two ports between the impeller housing and engine where the water can exit. I had to use an inspection mirror to look there.

Cove stripe lettering
I am going to add a cove stripe to my 25D. If anyone has access to their boat with the "CD" lettering, I would appreciate getting the approximate height and width, as well as the width of the cove stripe.
Thanks,
John
