Re: CDSOA Northeast Fleet events for 2020 won’t happen

Hi Cathy and all, I was wondering if any interest showed up in a Maine Cruise this year. Did Joe Alteris get in touch with anyone? The reason we get together is to visit each other at cocktails and such, and the way it looks now isn't too promising for 2020. I know the demographic is more seasoned a...

Andy Vavolotis Steps Away

For those of you who are not aware, Andy Vavolotis, is retiring from ownership of Robinhood Marine Center. Andy started Cape Dory Yachts in the year 1963 in Massachusetts, and later continued with Robinhood Yachts in Maine, (a revamped Cape Dory) and was very active, still working in the yard up unt...

Associate Member

As an associate member now, ( I sail another brand of sailboat) I do not feel any less a citizen now. The CDSOA is a Cape Dory sailboat owners organization not a yacht club. I do not feel the need to change anything, nor do I take issue that I can't vote. The reason I still want to participate in th...

Make me an Offer on this like new CD30!

Well folks, I just commissioned a new boat to me, a 36 foot Gozzard in Maine. In the interest of not owning two boats into this winter I will entertain any reasonable offer. Anyone interested in a CD30 should definitely take a look at this boat...especially if you want a new Yanmar fresh water coole...

Thanks Chase, I did install new track on the toerails, but only because I detected corrosion on the old track. I did not change the location or size. The canvas was done by me in my shop. I duplicated the existing dodger design that was on the boat when I bought her which is a nice feature with a de...

Thanks Marc for the nice comments! Regarding the winches, since I singlehand 90% of the time, I invested in the Lewmar #40 Bronze Self tailing models. I moved them aft so that I could reach them from the helm by scarfing in a piece of teak on the existing coaming, using the existing supports, and dr...

Hi all! Thanks guys for the repsonse! We're looking into the 36' range. When I purchased Red Wing ten years ago, my needs were day sailing and weekends in the Barnegat Bay, (where you are lucky to get 5' of water) with vacations in the Northeast. Now we have much deeper water, and day sailing is not...

Red Wing ( a CD30 ) is Available....

Dear fellow sailors, This was a tough decision to make.....I have put an enormous amount of time and resources into making this CD30 "Red Wing"at better than new condition. Now that we are berthed in Maine, and in much deeper water than the Barnegat Bay in NJ, my wife and I decided to move...

Hello all, Fog and all of the weather elements are part of being in Maine. The first time sailing in Maine I had fog 25 out of 32 days...it was a foggy season. This time we had cool days and lots or rain.....but not much fog. I do not have a radar, but a good chartplotter and if course all of the pa...

Red Wing has a new address!

Hello all, Just a note to let you know that Red Wing, our CD30 will now be moored at Robinhood in Maine. This has come after much consideration for the past few years. I will miss day sailing in the Toms River, NJ, where I have been sailing for the past 20 years, but rather will be opening up a new ...

CDSOA members get discount on Sensibulb!

Hello everyone, I too purchased the sensibulb also after comparing it to Dr. LED and Anchor products. The sensibulb got my vote with brightness, the color of the light, and the broad spread of light emitted from the fixture. The device does look a bit ugly, with it being a circuit board, but it is w...

Hi Peter, I repowered my CD30 5 years ago with a Yanmar 2GMFV. My old Volvo MD7A was getting tired and not reaching the proper RPM. After Cleaning the volvo injectors and doing some basic analysis, I realized that it would be either a rebuild on the Volvo or a new engine. I chose the latter because ...

Thanks Diana, I figured this would not be an item for the chandlery, but rather a CDSOA member discount. I spoke with the president of the company today about a possible group discount and he seemed quite receptive. When I have a free moment tomorrow, I am going to order one replacement LED to test,...
