Re: Cape Dory 22 Drop Board SIze
Mine's a 1984 model, # 166, one of the last 9 that were built. Maybe they changed the companionway between years. Who knows?

Re: CD Dink Centerboard re-build
I'd get some 1/2" two sides good MDO (Medium Density Overlay) plywood. It's used in the construction form and highway billboard industry. Incredible stuff with phenol surface finishes that don't crack, check or show the wood grain. I'd do away with the straps and use a stainless plate saddle sc...

Re: Cape Dory 22 Drop Board SIze
Went out to the boat yesterday and took some measurements and photos. My boards are teak and finished with Honey Teak System products. Hope this helps you.

Re: 25' windows needed
Spartan Marine supplied most of the bronze parts on Cape Dories. They're still in business. I got some window screens for our CD22 from them a few years back.

Re: Bow Sprite Replacement Project
Here is the bow sprit before demolition. It doesn't look to bad, right. It is oak with a teak piece on to for aesthetics. The piece of teak is solid other then the crack down the middle. The oak! well read on. IMG_1123.jpg Here are the only tools that I used. Note that the six large screws that bin...

I realize that you've probably got them made by now, but I can get you the dimensions off mine if you still need them.

Re: CD 22 # 161 relaunching after Hurricane Season
The CD22 profile just looks right to me. The proportions are ideal for a small yacht. Great restoration. Thanks! It was a lot of work, but well worth it in the end. It is a nice profile isn't it? It's something that some other small cruisers aspire to and don't quite get. (Too tall, too boxy, too m...

Re: CD 22 # 161 relaunching after Hurricane Season
Gorgeous. Thanks for the compliment. The result of a 2 year restoration for a youth sailing program. Took her down to bare decks, refinished with epoxy primer and Hatteras Off White 450H polyurethane top coat with contrasting non-skid areas. PPG Medium Blue bottom paint with 450H Dark Blue boot str...

CD 22 # 161 relaunching after Hurricane Season
Re-launching CD 22 # 161 at Pelican Point. The local dock committee (Louisiana Brown Pelicans) gave their grudging approval.

Re: Non-skid color selection
I used PPG 435H two part aliphatic polyurethane in Hatteras Off White. I had the local PPG paint store tint it a sand grey with a touch of yellow for the deck of my CD22. I masked off the nonskid areas (rounding the corners requires a bit more effort but really makes a neat job) mixed polymer nonski...
