Re: Perkins 4108 leak and engine upgrade
You might have them check the damper plate as long as you are in there. As long as you have the shaft out you should probably put in a new cutlass bearing. And you might want to look at GFO packing for your stuffing box. Its a set it and forget it packing. The Coast Guard recommends it for all comme...

Re: Cape Dory 30 cutter - from wheel to tiller
I took the wheel off of my CD 36 and installed a tiller. I bought a 8" x 1 1/2" ss bar and had keyways cut in either end. I used an Edson coupler to attach it to the rudder shaft and then I bought a rudder head at a consignment store. I made my own tiller. I just left the quadrant where it...

Re: Stubborn Seacocks and Table Legs
I found it at Pete's RV in Burlington VT but I'm pretty sure that its a standard item for RV's. A quick search on RV table legs produced numerous responses such as https://www.amazon.com/AP-Products-13926-Table-Leg/dp/B00G44J9KS/ref=asc_df_B00G44J9KS/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459460...

Re: Stubborn Seacocks and Table Legs
I have found the table legs at an RV store if you need to destroy it to get it out. They have the taper too.

It is for an 1 1/2" rudder shaft. It also includes a tool to open the hatch and a canvas bag

Re: Holding tank holding us back!
I recently opened up the floor on my CD36 to change the fuel tank. There was a PVC pipe there that ran from the head to the holding tank. When I removed it it was filled with solids which were probably precipitates of salts. It wouldn't be a stretch to imagine this clogging to the point where nothin...

Re: Fuel Tank removal CD 36
Here is the finally installed fuel tank https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/3697630277963580683/6603881695584714632 I put in a new floor joist as I had to cut the old one in order to get the tank out. I brought the floor home with me and cut a new access hatch in order to be able to access the ta...

Re: 33 or 330: anybody install a composting head?
One fit in my CD36 so I'd guess it would fit easily in the 33. It fit right in the same spot as the original head

Re: Electrical Question
Most likely its a voltage drop that causes the GPS to drop out. Operating your starter draws a large amount of current. You may need a new battery or operate the GPS on another battery besides the starter battery
