Any advice on where to look and what they should cost to have made? i stitched them all last summer, but the seams and stitching are shot. Local would be good or mail order as well. Bevery Farms, Ma. here...

goody stevens boats

what wonderful pictures and stories. my good friends are the Stevens family from East Boothbay.. You should know some of them are still building boats today.. again the history and beauty of these boats is priceless. makes my little Ty full of that history as well. Funny when you see the same lines ...

jib sheets

With my Typhoon I have 2 jibs , a 150 or so, that i run way back to the track where you sit outside the shrouds. I added 2 blocks for my so called storm jib probably a 90-100, to the toe rail, forward of the cockpit. run inside of the shrouds, this has worked out great. the blocks are there when you...

ty trailor

where is the boat now. my trailor is hamilton, ma. till first or second week in october. it is a wooden cradle sitting on a large steel trailer. not ideal, but for a short haul it would work. i only travel 8-10 miles to launch and haul and it does fine. would not put it on the highway. what will you...

nice job

I have been thinking about painting my Typhoon hull. Maybe dark blue, dark green, I know it is not Cape Dory colors, but think it could be fun. My bud just painted the hull on his mid 1970's Cheoy Lee 42' cutter ketch. it was originally white, then navy blue and he did the blue again.... what an eye...

outboard for ty

I read so many of these posts and was really worried whether my 3.5 nissan short shaft would move the boat or not. while the short shaft is not ideal. it will get you where you want if you are smart, sit in the back, do not go to the bow. low idle moves the boat at 4k. not bad

aluminum pram

A small rowboat with a small engine or a set of oars is all you really need to pull 10 traps once or twice a week. I know an old guy who goes off the beach almost everyday and checks his traps, close to shore, with a row boat and no engine. a 13 foot whaler with a 15-35 would do all of what your loo...

banging noise in the mast

In a TY, more down wind, but pretty regular. is it just the halyards or something else. all is tight...but..

Anyway great sail today, some intermitten rain, but then all the sun shine.

All the big sail boats went in.. go figure.. Manchester houses some very nice boats

one more night ??? Wind & tide

Wow what a great little boat design.. Alot has to do with mooring and preparedness, but lesser boats would have been on the beach by now. She is just bobbing around, Smiling as well. NE winds and swells are somewhat blocked where we are. The kids were surfing right in front of her today with the new...

my ty is riding the waves too

I am one too that put my Ty in early. Boat sits off West Beach in Beverly Farms, Ma. It too is handling the waves really well. It sits close to shore, so low tide is my real worry. I took the rowboat off the wall yesterday before the high tide, good thing cause the beach looked like a dingy salvage ...
