jib/genoa blocks

Post by Jamie »

Hello all,

Can anyone recommend make and size of blocks for the genoa on a Typhoon? Does anyone put working jib blocks on the cabin top tracks? Make and size? Thanks and happy Labor Day weekend sailing.

Jamie- The manual specs Schaefer Marine 02-72. The track is 3/4"
The cabin top tracks have bulls-eye type fairleads.

Jib Sheets

Post by Appleton68 »

I always run the jib sheets from my genoa through the blocks on the outside edges of the hull, not on the top of the cabin. Also run the sheets outside the stays.

I hope everyone had a good sailing weekend.
Thanks for the feedback so far.

Is the track on the cabin top 1" or 1-1/4 inch?

thanks again Jamie

jib sheets

Post by robert brown »

With my Typhoon I have 2 jibs , a 150 or so, that i run way back to the track where you sit outside the shrouds. I added 2 blocks for my so called storm jib probably a 90-100, to the toe rail, forward of the cockpit. run inside of the shrouds, this has worked out great. the blocks are there when you want the smaller jib, it brings that smaller jib down and towards the boat and alot easier handling by your self with a decent wind.

I tend to put the smaller one out when i am by myself when you have a good wind.

I also have an aysimetrical spinnaker, that i bring back to the blocks at the transom.

Taking the jibs thru the top of the cabin just does not semm to work. might be easier, course my halyards are ther. but those sheets need to go out further
