Re: Cape Dory 28 main sail

Loose footed on my CD28.
Outhaul runs forward on boom, down to deck and aft to end of coach roof.
Simple, easy, good shape.

Re: Looking for Cape Dory 27 - Owners

Ryan, I've got a `79 CD28. Not even remotely close to what she looked like originally. Set up for long term liveaboard sailing for one or two adults. If you want pictures, etc, pm me. And John Stone is right. Nothing is sacred. Build what is needed/wanted. Also, there are/were three CD 27's in Olymp...

I also installed a Lavac, with a stainless vent on the face of the raised area, about where the bolt is in the picture.

Re: More CD28 Questions

Mathilda was built in `79. Holding tank was under v-berth; now on port side and above/behind Lavac head with pump directly above on deck.
The thru hull in your first picture - port aft - is for the bilge pump.

Re: CD 28 150 Gen Sheets

For both of my jibs and my Code 0, I used Samson Ultra Lite.
7/16" for the jibs, 3/8" for the Code 0.

I have a variation on that theme from James Baldwin. It's worked well for almost five years.
Port Townsend Foundry has a really nice version in bronze.

Try 1st Chain Supply in MO.
They have galvanized shackles as strong as the chain, without going up a size.

:D :D

Well, you weren't completely clear on the point of "not seeing" vs. "not seeing what you could afford"…. so just thought I'd make sure.
I'd love to have Pete's products on Mathilda. It's very nicely made, but it is pricey.

Re: Cockpit Scuppers

In my case things were brittle enough that all I had to do was gently twist and rock from below with a pair of vise grips. I wasn’t concerned about marring the tube portion as I knew they were being replaced.
