Winter boat cover for Cape Dory 26/25D -- SOLD

I am selling the winter boat cover that I had manufactured for my Cape Dory 26 by Ship Shape Products in Duluth, MN about eight years ago. The cover is a frameless, two-section design that uses the boom and a whisker pole or wooden plank to form a frame for the cover (details and pictures can be fou...

Thanks, Carl. She was a sweet boat and in excellent

condition, if I do say so myself. It actually won't be that hard or expensive to make her seaworthy again, but the insurance company gave me full value for her and undertook the burden of hauling her away, so I decided to take the settlement instead of trying to salvage her myself. She will undoubte...

CD 25D/26 dodger and bimini for sale -- SOLD

I am putting the dodger and bimini combination that I had made for my CD26 up for sale. They were built for my boat by Crystal Cay Marine in Punta Gorda, FL in November 2021. I had them on my boat for five months before I removed them for the summer and Hurricane Ian totaled my boat before I could r...

You might want to check with Southern Cross Ships Chandlery

in Pensacola. They do a sizable consignment business and probably have a few used stoves for sale. Their phone number is (850) 377-1776 and the address is 103 Myrick St, Pensacola, FL 32505.

Great looking CD26! What is her hull number? I also have

a 26, hull number 015. They are great sailing boats and whoever gets yours will be very fortunate.

I work for a sailboat supply store in Annapolis and my

answer to your question would depend on what type of sailing you plan to do. If you are strictly a lake, bay or coastal sailor, the CDI furler would be a good, cost-effective choice for you (although I would spend the extra $175 or so for the ball-bearing race instead of the standard plastic bushing...

Re: Genoa size for Chesapeake sailing - CD27

Chris I added roller furling and a new jib 3 years ago. Using advice from this forum and concurrence from the sailmaker, I went with 130. I'm happy I did. I single hand most of the time and have learned to be conservative. I doubt I'd have ever used all of the 150. BTW, I dealt with Bacon sails in ...

Re: Sailmaker recommendation – Main Sail, CD22

You could also check with Bacon Sails in Annapolis. They built two sails for my CD 26 (a roller furling genoa and a mainsail) and the quality and workmanship was outstanding. I did a quick check and a new main built to your specs would cost approximately $1150.

Re: best jib sail?

I agree with the comments about not going larger than a 135% sail, but I suggest that you check out the possibility of buying a good quality, used sail. You could end up saving a lot of money. Bacon Sails and Marine Supplies in Annapolis probably has the largest inventory, which you can search on th...

For the motor, the best bet is, hands down, the Tohatsu 6hp

SailPro with the 25" skeg and the flat prop. Tohatsu makes excellent motors (I just moved my CD 26 1350 miles from Annapolis to southwest Florida via the Intracoastal Waterway powered 98 percent of the way by a Tohatsu 9.8 outboard, with absolutely no problems along the way) and is actually the...

Re: Sailmaker

Try the folks over at Bacon Sails in Annapolis, 410-263-4880, 116 Legion Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401. They can get most work done within two weeks, although it can take longer if they have a lot of work in the queue. Also, they have a huge selection of used sails, so you may be able to save a little...

Re: East coast and Bahamas Cruise CD 25D

Thanks for posting the pictures. It is neat to see somebody living the dream. When did you start your trek down the ICW? I am moving my CD 26 from Annapolis to the west coast of Florida beginning mid- to late-March and just thinking about the cold weather on the Chesapeake Bay makes me shiver :) . A...

Re: A CDI furler would work fine for your purposes.

Can you be more specific about what parts of the CDI system are not robust enough? I am referring to the PVC foil, the plastic drum and the use of nylon bushings instead of bearing races (although one can order a system with proper bearings for about $75 more for the smaller units (FF1 and FF2) and...

A CDI furler would work fine for your purposes.

They aren't designed for offshore use or for sustained use in heavy winds and rough conditions, but given the size of your boat and the fact that you intend to remain in the Bay, a CDI furler will be more than adequate. The prices of the CDIs are significantly lower than the Harken, Hood, Schaefer o...
