My 440 is mounted on a ram at the binical. I have a Lowrance HD7 in the companionway with a double ram mount. The Lowrance is on a 2in thick block on the lower starboard side. I look forward to making more trips like it. By refereing to my other boat I assume you mean my CD30K that was hit by the barge. Off shore is the way to go.

I installed a Harken traveler on my TY. It is between the comings aft of the cockpit. I cut the track to fit. Marked the holes then drilled them oversized thru the first layer of the deck. Of course the center of effort is raised but at a reduced value. So what your saying is if we cut the whole sail away except for the top 3 feet then with all of the center of effort being at the top 3 feet of the mast the boat would be sailing around with its rail in the water all of the time. Since you are shortening your sail by cutting it off of the bottom you are not adding sail area higher up. If you were putting a sail on with the original length of foot and reducing the sail area aloft then I would say it would add to tenderness. That being said you may in fact be adding sail area ...

I did the same and the stock rocker switches do fine. Turn them both on and it flashes.
