Re: CD 31 Arrival
Faults are few but watch for possible holding tank leak into bilge several old posts on repair. Cockpit sole coring may get wet from intrusion at emergency tiller access (I was told at purchase survey 7years ago and have never had evidence of de lamination). Gelcoat was put on pretty thick and tends...

Re: Airhead and new stove on CD 31
Hope you can post photos when air head installed. I've contemplated arihead in my 31, but ended up trying to seal leaks in holding tank (a quart of barrier coat poured into cleaned and dry tank). If/when that fails I'll return to composting plan.

Re: Converting Holding Tank to Fuel Tank? CD 31
Great thread My tank discharge is a straight pipe from near bottom of holding tank to pump out connector in cockpit sole. But there is a t just below sole that leads pipe to the hand pump in the starboard locker. There is a sea cock at the forward inboard corner of the locker for discharge. No valve...

Re: New Mainsail Configuration CD31
I like my full batten with Mack pack. Takes a bit of practice to avoid catching batten in lazy jack lines when raising sail, but worth it for quick and easy furling and good performance

CD 31 Inner forestay
Anyone know dimensions as originally designed. I'm contemplating going from hank on to roller furl and sailmaker needs dimensions to estimate cost. Rig is in storage and not currently accessible.

Re: Overboard pump out
My CD 31 has bilge pump for holding tank pump out located in port locker with pump handle inserted from cockpit with seacock at lowest point of locker. Setup seems OK, but pump compromises access to locker and tubing interferes with access to panel that opens to engine compartment. The major issue i...

Re: replacing teak toe rail
Before cutting out the damaged piece, check to see where the original scarfs are. I had similar damage repaired very nicely, but when completed, repair guy noticed how much easier it might have been had he removed one section of rail between joints. Joints on 1984 CD 31 appear to have been joined wi...

Re: question for you wood workers
Markst95- As an amateur woodworker I can agree (from experience) that kickback should be avoided. Kickback arises from the upward lift of the blade against the just or about to be cut wood surface. That surface must receive counter pressure. This may come from a proper push stick or feather board. A...

Re: Mack Pack versus Doyle Stack Pack
I have been using Mack Pack for several seasons. It was installed by yard that has experience with system. Apart from occasional catches of lowest (full) batton in aftermost jack line and zipper catches where luff folds irregularly , I've been very pleased. Takes about 1 hour to rerig after removal ...
