I too wear the Merrell water shoe. They are fantastic, if I do say so. Chris

Ned, Hull speed is based on waterline length while the boat is sitting level in the water. As the boat heels, the waterline length increases and so does the speed. Your GPS is probably giving correct info. My 25 has a hull speed around 5.5 knots but given the right conditions I can easliy get 6 knot...

Pole Length

From what I understand a whisker pole should be as long as the foot of the head sail you are using. As far as the height I can't help on that. Chris

Check out this site It should answer your questions.

Re: sink drain cd 25

The thing is the way it was set up. The drain does not work. If you take the hose off the thue hull ,water comes in. So how could it drain? You cant drain a sink with the hole on the bottom of a boat . If the boat is moving it would work. I plan on hooking the hose to a 3 gallon jug. All the boats ...

"I tried to think about the effect, if any, of a boom vang on my main while sailing today. I have been taught that generally the boom should be parallel to the deck and then adjusted slightly depending on wind conditions, and whether on a beat, a run, etc." SeaHunt, In the light winds you ...

Lifting point with boom vang?

Darrell,

In using the boom vang for lifting, what do you use as a lifting point/attachment for the vang? Would the boom end or spinaker pole be appropriate? Since I'm new to "big" boats I have been pondering this.

I found a replacement lens for my spreader light at West Marine. It was the original from Rigrite but the perko lens fit perfectly. Not sure if these will apply to your lenses but here is the link. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/40208/377%20710/0/replacem...

Try using one

SeaHunt, If you have 2 32' lines already why not try using one to form both of your jib sheets. You can use a cow hitch to attach it to the clew of the jib and end up with 2 16' sheets without cutting up the line. This would let you see if that is enough line. I think it would be plenty. Hope this h...

I tried it when stripping an unknown ablative bottom paint and it didn't work at all. I had to resort to a heat gun and scraper. It did however work well on the topside paint. Chris

Follow the directions from the manufacturer to a T. I used a Petit product on another boat and found great info on their website, followed the instructions and was very happy with the result.

Other than that, what are you looking at doing? Stripping, recoating, etc?

Thanks for the warm welcome!

As far as the name Sostenuto, that is the name she was given 2 owners ago. She has carried her previous owner safely around Lake Huron and Lake Erie, which I have found some record of on this board. I have considered renaming her with the appropriate ceremony but I like the current name. My other (s...

Proud new owner of CD25 #496

Just wanted to say what a great resource this board is. I have been reading and monitoring this board for the last 6 months or so and it has lead me to my new (1977) boat. I certainly plan to join the owners association now that I am an owner. By the way, I probably would have registered and posted ...
