Running lights

Post by twkratz »

Any body know where I can get new running light lenses for a cape dory 25? Mine are all bleached out...don't know why...probably from over sized bulbs used by the previous owner.

pyacht carries parts, including lenses for Aquasignal Navigation lights. I'm not sure what type of light your CD 25 has, but my CD36 uses Aquasignal Series 40 (I believe).

I replaced my running lights with the new LED type. It's incredible how much energy you save.

New lights

Post by Steve Laume »

I searched for the lenses for a while when I first bought my boat. The sun does a number on them far greater than any bulb could do. After I looked for a while I just replaced the entire light. That gave me a fresh start. Contacts, bulbs and lenses. All things considered it was not that much money.

Now I would love to find a LED bulb that would fit into the Aqua Signal lights. I am uncertain weather any of the offerings I see will work and the bulbs are not cheap, Steve.

If the light is an Aqua Signal 25 which I believe is OEM then Defender has the lens for $17.99

The LED's are expensive. After purchasing a new tiller autopilot I went the extra distance and replaced all the NAV lights with LED's to help conserve battery juice. No they were not cheap (approx. $50 ea.)

Dr LED sells LED bulbs for the Aquasignal Series 25 & 40. I replaced Seraph's 25 Series lights with the led and am very happy.

I found a replacement lens for my spreader light at West Marine. It was the original from Rigrite but the perko lens fit perfectly. Not sure if these will apply to your lenses but here is the link.

running lights

I want to go to LEDs for all the lights on board and I was kind of hoping that I would be able to get away with just getting new lenses for the port & starboard lights and then putting in an LED bulb with a bayonet mount. (by the way I collect bayonets, so if you've got one laying around the house you'd like to sell...,but I digress...)

I plan on re-wiring the boat, new breaker box etc., what make LED navlights did people buy, or can anyone recommend?
