Re: Slip or mooring fees

All of those fees seem pretty well inline, EXCEPT the mast pulling at $25/foot. That is outrageous. We have a private crane truck come to the harbor and pull our 49' mast for a flat $225. Are you allowed to pull your mast on your own?

Congratulations! I can't wait to hear about the journey. I see the ice, but I don't see any Guinness in there.

Re: New Boat Inspection

in addition to the above, check for soft spots on deck and especially in the cockpit sole. As for the diesel, Slainte, our 1981 CD27 has the Yanmar YSM8 it cam e to us in 2010 and had only 1260 hours on it - good for another decade or two, although the 8 HP worked for us the later 27s came with a 13...

Re: Converting CD30C from Diesel to Electric propulsion

Thanks Keith, It looks like you got it right. I had asked Scott at Electric Yacht for his advice and here is what he said: The prop shaft is electrically insulated from the rest of the motor frame. This is primarily to reduce any chance of stray current corrosion that can occur with faulty ac wiring...

John,
Sometimes a big company like that will not sell one or two items, but they will often send you one or two free samples.

Re: Converting CD30C from Diesel to Electric propulsion

We are about ready to test the new install. We just need to connects the last two battery cables and then plug in the throttle, display, and current sensor wires. I do have a question for you guys though. We have the 48V system for the motor and we have a 12V system for the house loads. Does all of ...

Re: 25D vs. 27

. . . There are a couple of things that are potentially deadly about the small CDs: An uncontrolled jibe can kill you because there is not safe headroom under the boom. This is really helpful. So I'd want to rig a preventer anytime I drop below a beam reach (and generally be aware of the boom), and...

Re: Propeller shaft friction

David, I am still waiting for the new shaft. The 3-5 day turnaround time from Propeller Depot is now in its14th day and it is still not here :( I did take the old shaft up to the boat today and did a test fit. I rubbed a little hand soap on the old shaft and it just slide right in. As long as I kept...
