Re: I Spy...

Those are two good looking boats. Is that a Passagemaker dinghy?

Re: Let's Build a Laminated Tiller

Careful workmanship and good technique, I can't wait to see the finished product.
That looks like some very nice Southern Pine that gave its life for the boat.

Thanks John, I always enjoy watching your projects.

We would be happy just to see those, here is what we see on the Mississippi (often TOO CLOSE):

Re: Wiring Anxiety

It might be a good time to add an second panel, something like this: https://www.bluesea.com/products/4321/W ... SB_Charger

That way you could get those connections off of the batter and onto a proper panel.

Re: Leoma new motor mounts

John,
That looks a lot better. New mounts for the motor and new "mounts" for each arm. That is going to take a lot of Guinness. I'll be thinking of you. Best wishes.

Re: Stubborn Seacocks and Table Legs

Fritz, I don't think I would be comfortable leaving our boat overnight with a one gallon per hour leak. How many hours/gallons will it be before you can get back to the boat. Where do you suppose that bilge pump was manufactured? Even if your boat doesn't sink, water over the floorboards would cause...

That sounds like a reputable boatyard, however - NEVER tell a boatyard that you are not in a hurry. Mañana is for while you are enjoying Cabo, not before.

Re: Where Is The Far Reach--Part III

I love Senica. ". . . Of all people only those are at leisure who make time for philosophy, only those are really alive. For they not only keep a good watch over their own lifetimes, but they annex every age to theirs. All the years that have passed before them are added to their own. Unless we...

Re: Transom ladder needed

Tom, If I still had my 27 I would sell you that ladder in a minute, we were never able to use it safely. What type of pushpit do you have? Our pushpit was a full rail all the way across the aft end, we had to climb over the pushpit to get in or out of the cockpit. Delivery 3.jpg I am sure others hav...

Re: Old Typhoon Restoration Opportunity?

I think that the transom is just painted to look as though it is wood, with that amount of neglect I think a wood transom would be in far worse shape. I am glad that I am far away in St. Louis, that way I am not tempted, but she could become a beauty. There are few things more expensive than a free ...

Re: Teak Problem

As with most boat problems, a photo would really help. Is this happening to both combing boards, or only one? "Small pieces" . . . how small? splinters, chips, grains? How soft is "fairly soft"? Usually the use of a brush is not recommended, brushing removes the soft wood leaving...

Re: 12v Refrigeration Input Sought

My Dad used to say; I spent a lot of my younger of my life acquiring and owning fine tools and machines only to find out that I didn't own them . . . they owned me. All those complicated tools required more and more time to maintain. He went back to simple hand tools, a hand plane, a nice Disston sa...

Back in the old days there used to make gas refrigerators, both for home use and for RV camping. How would one of those compare?
