None yet. The ole boy started her up at least once a year I'm told We changed all the hoses, funny copper tubing seals/rings, all fluids cleaned out the heat exchanger (which was really clean) adjusted the valves, installed a new hot water heater, all new hoses for fuel & water, new steering hel...

28 power boat motor Mounts

Thanks Bill, I'm going to do these basic checks before I have the mechanics down. This boat was on the hard for 9 yrs when I bought her, then I took 2 yrs doing her "make-over". I'm starting ti think it was cavitation, cuz once the seas were down she was fine. Have you ever expereinced cav...

28 power boat motor mounts

Thanks Bill:

There's no wobble in the shaft, but I will mention the other points to the yard who I hope will take a look at it.

I take it you haven't had an issue w your mounts?

It would seem that they should be due, as she's an 88.

28 Power boat Motor Mounts

Hi all: Just back from a nice 4 days at the vineyard and have a question for ya all: Buzzard's Bay had a steep chop today, perhaps 5-6 feet, to the point I slowed down to 5 knots for a while. Often times when slaming about, the boat felt like she was wiggiling a bit, as tho the motor mounts are loos...

Thanks Bill:

I'm going to try placing a rubber mat over each of the cockpit hacthes, I'm hoping that this will really cut down on the water intrusion... as I am unaware of how much comes in the engine room air vents

Powerboat cockpit water acccumulation

Hi all

Seems as tho I have a starboard list which results in water acccumulating along the stdb side of the cockpit. Think I'm going to buy one of those chamois mops to get it out!

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Thanks Sedena & Dulcenia! Surely don't want to replace the wiper motors just yet; I want to use the boat, not keep working on it! I think I'll try the lower helms seat, as it would seem that you could just lean on it, as well as sitting on it. Wondering if you guys have the "bad" volvo...

Well after 2 yrs of "re-doing" finally splashed the boat, which has been on the hard for 11 Yrs!, 2 w/ me, 9 before... Was absolutely amazed that both the GPS & knot meter read 17.8 !!, my mechanic thinks we hit 18, but it just hadn't registered yet... I'm sure I'll never travel at tha...

Power boat exhaust extension

Howdy: I was quite please w/ myself. I cut up a piece of schedule 40, pvc 3.5" pipe to use as an extension for the exhaust, so it doesn't soot up the transom. Painted it w/ awlgrip the same color as the boot stripe, utilized a rubber connector w/ 2 s.s hose clamps ( std stuff from Home Depot) a...

CD28 Flybridge upper helm

Howdy:

Wondering how you fill/bleed the upper helm without getting steering fluid everywhere, given that the pump is mounted horizontally?

Any tricks?

TIA

Free Volvo MD 7A Engine

Hi all A fellow I know has a Volvo MD 7A 2 which is seized. He's had it for yrs, as the p.o. opted to go new rather than rebuild. The p.o. reported that it was running fine when he put it away for the winter, but in the spring it had seized. It is missing the starter, but has the mounts, alt, wiring...

bilge blower hose

I'm fairly the diameter is 3" not 4", there is an industrial outfit here which has a really nice 3: rubber version of this "bilge blower hose" they simply call it RHF-3, but it's $4.04 per foot!

Power Boat Bilge/vent hoses

Has anyone replaced the cheapy bilge blower hose in their power boat? I have installed new vent grids and collection boxes, so I thought I'd also replace that cheapy blower hoses (kinda similar to dryer vent hose) I'm doing so, as I can only imagine alot of seawater must come into these vent collect...

CD 28 Power Boat anchor locker pump out

Hi All: As I am totally repainting the exterior of the boat, I thought I'd ask about the efficiency of the holding tank pump out fitting located in the anchor well. Does it work o.k., or is it at an awkward angle to get the pump out nozzle on...? As now ould be the time to re-route it..., not that I...
