Interesting Blog

Yes, it is an interesting blog. Thanks for the link John. I bookmarked it and read it with interest. One thought that crosses my mind: the guy must have anti-freeze flowing through his veins to be sailing Superior this time of the year. Burr...

I hand scraped the bottom of my CD-25 the summer of 2006. It then wintered under a tarp and in spring of 2007 I sanded it and wiped it down with acetone. Then applied 2 coats of Petit Hydrocoat Alabative Antifouling. I didn't use a primer like Gary H. did when he did his bottom. There were no bliste...

You probably can "sell" the halon to a gas supply company. Since is no longer being produced it has a high demand and commands a high price. I work at an art museum and we have about 15 halon extinguishers because it will not damage the art work. Call a supply company and see if they will ...

Video?

Have you considered finding them a sailing video to watch? Like it or not, kids these days are so tuned into watching everything on DVD's. A search on the netflicks.com site for sailing on DVD's will provide you with a list of possible movies. Books are great, but a video will give them a visual ref...

Magazine Article

Steve, Wander down to your local magazine/book store and pick up a copy of the January/February issue of Good Old Boat magazine. On page 16 there is a informative article with the title of "EPRIBs, PLBs, and SART's 101: Electronic devices designed to save your life at sea". I learned a lot...

Shawn, thanks for confirming that the Yamaha does fit in the CD-25. I also want to get the extra long shaft like you did. Your input/experiences are very helpful, thanks again.

Thanks John! That info is really helpful and so is the website link you recommended -- I bookmarked it. This link is better than the official Yamaha site for getting specifications and pricing. Thanks again.

Yamaha Catalog

Frank, In the 2007 Yamaha catalog they do offer electric start and alternators for the 9.9 & 8hp motors. They reduced the physical size of the 9.9 by what looks like 1/4 -- there is an image in the catalog. They offer a 4-stroke T8 High Thrust electric with a 6A alternator in 20 or 25 inch shaft...

Yamaha looks interesting

I'm going to take a closer look at the Yamaha lineup for 2008. I think a 8hp 4-stoke Yamaha with power thrust may be the unit I put in the CD-25. A friend has one on his sailboat and loves it, especially in reverse gear.

Thank for the suggestions

Thanks for the suggestions. I did search the archives, but didn't find any info on this specific model of motor. I think I will probably end up buying from a local dealer just in case there is an issue with fitting the motor and can exchange it. Thanks again for taking the time to help me out. till ...

Dress Warm If You Go

I covered up my CD25 for the season yesterday in Ashland. Saw one sailboat sailing the bay -- looked cold as I watched from shore with my wool sweater under a light winter coat and stocking cap. Most sailboats were hauled out last week and this weekend. Its not high winds, seas or storms that are ke...

Maybe...?

Mark there may have been one for sale in Bayfield this last spring that "maybe" still in the area. I think Northland Yachts was the broker and they would know where she is located. I had my CD-25 hauled out yesterday at the marina in Ashland. There is also a CD-22 at the marina in Ashland....
