Re: Replacing Engine Intake Seacock - Advice Appreciated
Thank you. This is very helpful. The larger size hole likely makes it easier to drive the old thru-hull up into the boat. I plan on replacing with the same Spartan thru-hole so I imagine I would just use the hole saw to remove the mushroom flange. Hopefully there is not 5200 between the threads and ...

Replacing Engine Intake Seacock - Advice Appreciated
I managed to break my Spartan Seacock on the cooling water engine intake on ny 22D. (I tightened the lock nut without using a spanner to secure the plate cover.). See photo. Sadly, it appears that I have to now replace the seacock ($400 and pull boat from water). Advice on the removal of the old thr...

Re: Beautiful Pictures of a Cape Dory 22, CD22 - Salvagable?
In 2011, I bought a bare hull Cape Dory 22D along with about 30 boxes of parts. All topsides teak, fittings, portholes, etc. had been removed from the boat by a fellow looking to restore her. His health failed and had to sell the boat as is. The small diesel was still attached but I removed it for a...

It looks like the weld may have failed. Vibration? Interesting that Yanmar has redesigned this pipe so that it takes a different...

Re: 1 GM Fuel Pipe Leak
Thank you both, Bob and Jean. This is very helpful. I have ordered the new line.
I found the leak when searching for the cause of the engine not being able to idle without stalling and finally refusing to start.

Re: 1 GM Fuel Pipe Leak
Thank you, Bob. My leak is on the high pressure line supplying fuel to the injectors. I have removed and retightened the tapered nut and it is clear that nut does not provide the seal. Before removing the pipe, I was wondering if there is a rubber o-ring involved or it is just a flared pipe end pres...

1 GM Fuel Pipe Leak
This photo shows the injector end of the high pressure fuel line. It appears that the weld on that fitting failed. Perhaps due to vibration. Interesting that Yanmar has redesigned the line so that it takes a different route and must be secured to the engine block midway. I am waiting to receive it. ...

Water seeping through Bilge Floor
While preparing to replace my bilge pump on my 22D, I noticed that a line of small drops of water continously appears on the bilge floor just fore of the the access port (which is located approximately midship). The drops appear, about an inch apart, along a line approximately 1 foot long. There is ...

Perhaps a bit to get used to but it appears capable of doing the job of a traveler and main sheet with one less cleat.

Re: Mysterious leak
Toe rail screws are less likely to leak than are the through bolts holding down the genoa track. At least that was my experience.

Re: Adding an Electrical Power Distribution Panel to a TY Se
On my 22D, the panel is mounted in a section of wall liner that is kitty corner on the port rear corner of the cabin. This may have been built like this just for this purpose. You could always build a teak frame that would support the panel providing the depth you need. No photo available as it is w...
