The Cape Dory Board

Does a water muffler require maintenance? I imagine it could collect carbon which could restrict floe of exhaust. The muffler is not accessible on the 22D without removing the engine. I am wondering if my inability to get rpm’s above 27k could be due to soot blockage. The exhaust elbow is clean.

Should I assume that no replies might mean that cleaning the water muffler is not done or required?

I found the leak when searching for the cause of the engine not being able to idle without stalling and finally refusing to start.

This photo shows the injector end of the high pressure fuel line. It appears that the weld on that fitting failed. Perhaps due to vibration. Interesting that Yanmar has redesigned the line so that it takes a different route and must be secured to the engine block midway. I am waiting to receive it. ...

Perhaps a bit to get used to but it appears capable of doing the job of a traveler and main sheet with one less cleat.
