9M Intrepid owners out there?
Im having a heck of a time purchacing a holding tank for my CD-the old one (under the V-birth)had been removed prior to me purchasing the boat and the holding space in which Id put a new one is very difficult to measure-far more complex than a simple rectangle. Ive spoken with Kracow Distribuors who...

not so simple
I should have specified-the molding upon which this holding tank would rest is not at all a flat surface and very difficult to "measure". Its a basic V shape, but has edges that cut into the V-hard to explain. I havent found a holding tank that would fit restfully in this space. I was wond...

Which holding tank?
Hi all. Am in the process of installing a holding tank under the v birth of my 9Meter Intrepid. Anyone know where the V-shaped tank I'd need might be found? Aine

Advice on portable head , anybody?
Hello-well it wont be long until sailing season here in Boston. I have a CD 9meter Intrepid, bought without a holding tank ever installed. I am now having to sell the boat and am realizing what a big deal this is. I am seriously considering installing a portable head rather than the holding tank-pre...

MUFFLER
Hello all-hope youve enjoyed the great sailing summer we've had. Im looking for tips on replacing my Volvo Penta MD7A muffler, on my '79 CD 9M Intrepid. Not sure if the present one is the original, but it sure looks old enough. Volvo no longer makes the replacement. Has anyone had luck with a suitab...

Shale problem
Your advise is more than appreciated! I do indeed have the same engine. And it sounds like the same problem, no doubt. Did this pretty much fix it or do you still find you need to remove the T housing and clean out? Also, you mentioned parts needed to remove and clean the mannifold-any chance you ha...

Slate-like flecks keep clogging my Thermostat!
Im wondering if anyone has had this problem! I have a Volvo Penta engine on my 9M CD, and I have a chronic but intermittent problem with overheating. Checked the impeller first, the water pump, etc. It turns out that when I removed the thermostat housing cover what I found inside was a little pile o...

Mystery of the zinc!
I love this website! I do not have the optional fresh water cooling-therefore my search for the sacrificial zinc (not the outer ones-I know about those) would have been in vain, no? I could have spent hours, days, years..... What is the best way to keep an old engine clean and free of crud (I'm sure ...

sacrificial zinc?????
Ok, picked up Caulders book on Diesel engines and read how the single most important thing you can do for the cooling system is replace the sacrificial zincs regularly-but I was left hanging there with only 2 bad photos of a 'good' and a 'bad' zinc. Is there a better really more hands on/how to book...

Thanks Mike
Maybe I'll give that a try-but you are right-Its a pedastal/wheel and its hard to see how I'll be able to bring the sheets back far enough. What would be the downside of installing the new winches further aft? I think you have a point about having to worry about the main sheet if I moved the travele...

installing winches further aft
Hello-I am in the market for a set of used self-tailing winches for my CD 9M (30 ft) and was wondering 2 things. What would be the best type to get for this boat, and would there be any reason not to install them further aft to make it easier to single-hand the boat someday (Im not quite at that lev...

Duncans nightmare!!
Duncan! Dont joke like that! I thought the world was truly becoming a terrible place when we could no longer visit B.I..Hey, I believed you for a second-thought it was maybe a new "homeland security" thing, but no, not wonderful, little R.I., they wouldnt do that to us. Anyway, the island ...
