Stepping CD25 Mast

My yard uses a forklift to raise/step the mast (and lower it too!).

A line is looped around the mast just below the spreaders, and the mast is then 'hoisted' with the line hooked onto the end of the fork on the lift.

Fast, easy, and cheap!

Fair and steady winds!

Trash in CD25 Cockpit....

For a lighter topic.... Sea Owl is finally going back in tomorrow. Among things I have mulled over is how to handle trash while underway. What I have done the last two seasons is to tuck a small plastic bag into the rear port quarter of the cockpit, held in place by the throttle cables going to my o...

Backstay Chain Plate CD25

Dick; Good idea. Anybody out there done that on a CD-25? What I am wondering is how that could be done easily. Chain plates I don't have trouble with, but the 'stay structure' - is it better to have two short stays meeting and going to a longer single back stay, one wire going from chain plate to ch...

Swim Ladder Alternative

Going through my boatyard, saw this boat with a different approach to a swim ladder. Note folding step mounted on rudder, and an additional step mounted higher on transom. As long as the tiller (like all good boats, it has a tiller! :D ) is locked in place, it should work well. Just a thought provok...

Collapsabile Dinghy - Picture

All; Pictured below is a picture of a collapsible dinghy I saw as I was coming out of the Atlantic Highlands harbor area. I know a number of people have talked a length about various dinghy options. I have no idea what kind it is, other than it appears to be collapsible. Just looking at it, not my c...

Backstay Chain Plate CD25

Quick question for the board. My backstay chain plate (photo below) needs replaced. It appears to be a single piece of metal below the deck - does it extend into the transom and I just can't see it? A single plate will be easier to replace (obviously!) than one extending into the transom.... Thanks ...

Warren; As a cheaper interim solution, suggest you check out self-inflating air mattresses at a good camping store. They come in a variety of sizes and thicknesses, are easy to put out at bed time, and roll up easily if you want to put them away during the day. I use one on Sea Owl when I want to na...

Poling out Genoa on CD25

Dick; Carter owned a gorgeous CD25 and had roller furling. I would offer a slightly different outlook, one based on having hank on sails. 1) With a hank on Genoa, I would never use the pole without a crew. The opportunity for disaster (expecially with no auto-pilot) is too extreme for me. Carter's p...

Pictures of H&L Tiller

Scott; A couple of photos. You can order unfinished, I had them varnish it so this shows 'their' finish. This first one is a overall shot of the tiller in use... http://i437.photobucket.com/albums/qq94/SeaOwl_bucket/TillSmall2.jpg This shot is closer, lets you see how it is made/looks with their fin...

CD 25 Tiller

Scott: About 2 years ago I replaced my tiller through H&L Marine. I am REALLY happy with it! They have do not have a website that I know of. Based on my old tiller, my measurements were Style E, a length of 38", a curve height of 2.5 inches, and a height and width of 1.25 inches square. The...

WAIT!

Judith; BEFORE you start yanking, recommend you attache a 'messenger' line as we used to say in the communications business. This can be attached to the new cable, and used to pull it back in place. You may have already thought of that, but just in case.... In fact, I would recommend a messen...

Rich:

Just did the outside edges of the plastic frame, as I suspected that was the culprit. Was prepared to try the plexiglass to frame joint, but turned out I did not need to.

Leaking Ports

I had the same problem with both of my aft ports. I recall that there were some posts that described how that was done. I copied the text of one post; unfortunately I cannot tell you who wrote it to give them credit.... The text of the message is: "We have resealed all the plastic ports on our ...

What may be at play here is resistance. Any electrical device at its connection has a 'resistance' in both the dc and ac world that varies from device to device. Your 12v charger socket, connected directly to your boat battery, has nothing to limit the current delivered by the battery, which for mos...

DPFranc;

Do a search on CD25, outboard on this board and you will find a plethora of articles on motors people have bought/used.

As always, needs are dictated by where you normally go, and the currents you have to fight.

Good luck in your search!
