Re: CD25 1978 Scupper Questions

BobC - I can only address one item in your inquiry - scupper valves / hoses. It appears a PO replaced the standard (in CD-25s) gate valves with the ball valves. I read somewhere on this board where a CD25 owner found it practical to run the scupper hoses across to the opposite side thru hull so as t...

Re: Anyone else unable to log in?

I just entered our website using my normal Chrome browser - no problem. But the only posts I see are related to this string.

Roberto - you mention you are using IE 10 - is that the new Windows 10 browser???

Re: 25' Cape Dory-getting motor out of the well

I use an old industrial safety harness to wrap around the motor then attach the vang to a metal loop on the harness. The rig shown in the prior note looks better. I pull my motor twice a year to paint with anti foul. Otherwise it in the water continuously.

Re: 25' Cape Dory-getting motor out of the well

I have been fighting this battle for 35 years - first on a 1974 model, and since 1984 on my current 1979 CD25. Twisting, pulling, cussing, and shoving were standard procedure until I started using a boom vang hanging from the boom end a few years ago. It is still a pain, but my back is much better t...

I, too, enjoyed your video - Thanks! Where did you get the asymetical spinnaker? I saw Doyle on another sail on your boat - is it Doyle too?

Re: Spartan opening port gasket removal

I used a wood dowel of the same radius as the groove, cut on an angle to scrape the old material out of the groove. It was cheap, easy and no damage to the port metal.

Re: CD 26 O/B in salt water

Lots of good points above, but if your main concern is the O/B in saltwater, do not worry - proper maintenance will prevent significant problems. I have had my CD-25 for over 30 years now, docked continuously in salt water in Savannah Ga. I currently have a 1993 Johnson 6 HP outboard that I purchase...

Is INavX the best for an IPad?

I just "inherited" an IPad from one of my kids, and would like to try using it to plan short trips offshore Georgia / South Carolina. Looking back through the archives, the INavX app seemed to be the winner for IPads, but there haven't been any comments for some months now. I'd appreciate ...

Re: New book released: global circumnavigation on a CD30

I really enjoyed this book - exciting, funny and extremely well written. It's great to see the close relationship both of you developed with Orca, just like the rest of us CDers do with our boats. Thanks for sharing you adventure!

Re: new main sail

I'm considering a new drifter from Precision Sails in Canada, and I saw this post from last year. I did not see any replies to your query. Did you buy a sail from them? If so, are you happy with it?

Thanks,

Re: How to replace CD25 water tank tubing - Problem Solved!

Here's how I finally solved this situation. I was unable to pull the old tubing out, no matter how hard I pulled, so I could not pull new hose through existing holes. My solution, that is working quite well, was to PUSH hard 3/8 inch OD polyethylene tubing through the old tubing until I could see it...

Re: How to replace CD25 water tank tubing

Thanks for all of the input so far. I am leaning towards Steve Bryant's approaches #2 and #4. But I am curious about Ben Coombs boat - it's an earlier boat than mine ('73 vs '79) - where does the hose exit the bilge up to the sink??? What is the routing on that end??? Thanks again.

How to replace CD25 water tank tubing

The clear plastic tubing running from the water tank back to the sink has sprung a small leak and is messing up the teak laminate nearby. I can't see how I can snake new hose or tubing through the existing holes between the liner and hull below the head, so I am contemplating running a new hose down...

Re: Recruiting for a potential CDSOA Southeast fleet (GA/FL)

Shinock - I have a CD25 in Savannah and belong to CDSOA. I would suggest Jacksonville area for a central location - that's about midway between Melbourne and Savannah. There are some CDs in Jax since there was a CD dealer just south of Jax on the St Johns River many years ago - Barbara ??? was the o...

John Vigor had a good piece re documentation in his Sept 29, 2013 blog. I found it interesting and informative, like most of his blogs. Here's a link:
