does the CD26 actually ride better?

Has anyone determined whether or not the CD26 sails differently with the water tank topped off? I would only be filling it for any advantages in sailing performance and not the intended purpose, water for the sink, and would have to drain it at the end of the season.

CD 26 simplicity in a nutshell

I have owned my CD 26 for about 5 years and purchased one for the reason of simplicity. A full keel boat without all of the bells and whistles is what attracted me. This year, I have just purchased a new 8 hp four stroke outboard for her in the $2k price range vs. probably more than double that if n...

Yamaha 8hp 4stroke outboard in CD26

For what it is worth, I hope I can help with my experiences from this year. I just purchased a Yamaha 8hp high thrust extra long shaft for the well of my CD 26. I will admit that it was somewhat of a tight fit, but after figuring out the positioning of the motor to insert into the well, it is now ve...

rebuilding seacock

I am rebuilding my first seacock and I would like to coat the plywood backing plate with some kind of epoxy and there seems to be an overwhelming number of products. I would like to know from other board members what products they have used and what works well and maybe even what to avoid. My next t...

antifouling products for outboards

What antifouling products for outboards have boardmembers used?
Someone I talked with mentioned a clear paint but they couldn't remember the name?

purchasing outboards online

Weight is a concern of mine. I am considering purchasing a Tohatsu or Nissan 9.8 4 stroke weighing in @ 82 lbs. After searching them on the internet, I found some good prices with shipping included (under $2000 for a 9.8hp long shaft electric start w/charging alternator). Anyone on the board ever bu...

Any other new outboard owners,Honda,Tohatsu,Nissan,Mercury.?

If there are any other owners that have had experienced trying to fit a newer outboard into the well of their CD 26 OR CD 25, it would be great to hear from them. In my experience, most dealers selling them in my area do not have the knowledge or haven't experienced trying to fit these motors into t...

Fitting an outboard in a CD26 (newer models)

After doing a search in the archives on this topic, I have discovered that the replies are a little dated (2003 or older). I was wondering if anyone has had more recent experience in trying to fit an outboard into the well of a CD26 (or CD25 for that matter) and any alterations made. I am not sure h...
