I have a very nice 22d with a trailer that I am considering selling. Let me know if you are interested. She is a great boat, the Diesel engine makes this a very rare pocket cruiser.
Thanks

I sailed offshore in a Tarten Ten one time and had the skipper ask me to go "pin the turnbuckles". He'd left them unpinned to do some rig tuning, got finished with that and didn't replace the pins. I went below as we were working close-hauled in about four foot seas (a combination of chop ...

I had posted a response, but then figured out you were talking about a part of the Bahamas I've not been to yet. They have the same names for some of the places, and I figured out you weren't talking about the Abacos.

I'll go back to lurking now.....

If that review doesn't prove fruitful, make sure that the exhaust is spitting water. Some engines will stop at a certain temp rather than continue to run and self-destruct.

Check the raw water intake to make sure it's open.

Re: Engine intake, butterfly valve or proper seacock?

Linda Jean ('81 CD 27) is configured with a gate valve for the raw water intake rather than a proper seacock. Clearly I'd rather have a proper seacock with backing plate. What's the combined wisdome of the board? Is there any reason why the raw water intake on a CD 27 should not have a proper seaco...

Going too and from the Bahamas in our 26, the on deck night watch had an empty milk jug to use. Ladies never run the overnight watch.

As tacky as that sounds it also enables one to see the color of ones pee to remind one to drink more water.

working with plastic

We recently replaced some large fixed ports in our galley and used smoke colored lexan to do so.

Cutting the ports was easy with a jig saw and a fine blade (about like a hack saw). Just leave the paper cover on the lexan/plexiglas to prevent scratches.

I put in a bilge pump counter when we first got the boat we have now (it's been over 10 years now). When the counter was first installed, I went nutz. 50 or more cycles a day was the norm. Slowly (although faster than the incoming water), I tracked down everyone of the leaks (fresh and salt water) t...

About ten years ago, my family tells me that our boat was too small and we needed a larger one if I wanted them to go cruising with me (my wife and me, actually). I sold the CD26D (very sad day for me) and ended up with a Morgan 382. Great boat. Nice and roomy. The kids both came to me a couple of y...

Coca-cola has always seemed to work on breaking up corrosion on metal parts.

Of course, once it breaks loose you'll need to give it the proverbial fresh water wash, otherwise it'll stick just as hard, or you might find an ant colony has moved aboard.....

Re: The "Thumping"

it was a bit disconcerting to see the upper shrouds in tune with that "thumping" and slapping the life lines in a visible rythym. Or the ripples (not the wine) emanating from the hull at low idle :D Certainly would not stop me from buying another, however on a 22, a diesel would be my ver...

I had one for two years, before the size of my family required us to move up to a 26d. The 22d was a great little boat, the weight distribution was not a problem. The ONLY problem I had with the boat was the engine (being a single cylinder) seemed to throb when the engine was at idle. If I could get...
