Almost FREE 1/4" stuffing box waxed flax packing
FLAX Packing 1/4" WPT (Western Pacific Trading) Model10052 1/4"waxed flax packing I ordered some for myself... but it was cheaper in a 25 FOOT package. Obviously more than I will ever use. If you'd like a 12" piece at almost no cost (that should give you 3 wraps)....send SASE to: RC J...

Re: Cooling system problem - please help!
The Oil-Line replacement is no big deal. Unbolt/Remove/Replace/Rebolt.
You can do it yourself, but if you've decided to have a Wrencher do the WaterPump, have him do the Oil Lines at the same time.

Re: Cooling system problem - please help!
You've checked all the obvious stuff.
How about 'farther downstream'?
I'm asking about the Muffler and exhaust hose to stern?
Birds nest? Wasp nests? Critter's winter quarters?
Just prognosticating while anticipating how to change a stuffing box in water.

Re: Holding tank holding us back!
Perhaps a pressurized back-flush of the system from the pump-out fitting might loosen any blockage?
But only if there's room in the tank for extra fluids!

Re: CD25D mainsheet block/traveller
'Original' parts may be a problem. Exactly what is broken? Sheaves, traveler car, pins, pulleys, track............. Many workarounds available, ... photo helpful for informational purposes. However, at the age these boats are, more modern options are available.. but check E-bay if you want 'original'.

Re: CD25D Prop Happiness?
My 25D came w/a 12" 2 blade and the previous owner had Michigan 12" 3 blade in a box of extras. The 3 blader was pitched at an ungodly 12", so w/a little internet sleuthing, I decided on repitching to 9". 1982 boat w/smaller Yanmar engine. Moves boat at a comfortable hull speed o...

Ghockaday-- I should have paid more attention to the photos. Great analysis. Csoule13-- one other thought comes to mind...... That lake is know to have a large number of 'snags' floating in the water. Perhaps your marina has a few underwater floating treebranches that might have been sucked into the...

Re: Rudder prop strike
I like the thought of turning the prop-shaft in the opposite direction that brought on this problem. -if the propeller is jammed against the rudder, it should free up the tiller. A second thought, since you said you had very little time on the new engine mounts is to check the tightness of the mount...

Re: What's the deal with my waterline?
Personally, 2 dead batteries in the V-berth of the 25D worked for extra weight, or perhaps more Chain in the AnchorLocker? Truly, it is a personal choice..... extra weight forward may benefit pointing abilities in a breeze. but the boat is always going to squat when under power ...... I think your n...

Re: need a new sail cover
3 years ago, I tried SailboatOwners.com and had a servicable, not unattractive SailCover built in Tan Sunbrella at a very reasonable cost.
No complaints...........not the tightest fitting sail-cover, but completely serviceable.
Perhaps worth a look.

Re: Help on cutlass bearing replacement CD30
Don Casey's Good Old Boat used a socket and the longer store-bought coupling bolts to pressure out the shaft from the coupling. It's no fun being upside down w/your arms above your head while resting on your shoulder, but it's doable. Not sure if big bucks is money well-spent, IF you have the time a...
