HAVE A DAYSAILER TYPHOON. AM RACING AGAINST LIGHTNINGS AND PEARSON ENSIGNS. LOOKING FOR RIGGING SUGGESTIONS AND ANY OTHER IDEAS TO BE COMPETITIVE.

What's you rig like currently? If it's like mine, you don't have backstay adjustment or a boom vang, both of which are vital to control the leech twist of the main. I think you could probably live without a traveller. I don't think it would increase windward performance that much and would be out of character with a nostalgic design. Clean the bottom before every race! Ensigns are big on Lake Erie (where I'm from) and I can't see racing against one with a stock Ty. I will make it clear though that I've raced a lot of boats but not my Ty, so I may be full of beans. Hopefully at least they're giving you a lot of time!
