Toe and rub rail are coming off easy. They think the bowsprit doesn’t need to come off and the seam is different there covered with a solids plate. I dont know. It’s not that hard. I should make them remove it. They are not unstepping the masts either they want to glass those places by the chain plates one at a time while securing the stays on cleats. I think that will be ok.
Im retired now and have no more income and little savings. This will be the last project that I can hire out

Did they use wood wedges to gently pry the toerail off?

Hi Jim thanks for the response. No need for wedges. After they removed the screws the rails just fell off. Demo is done they are erecting a tent now.

Here are some pics of what is probably a major source of the water intrusion. The hull deck joint is seperated. I need to keep an eye on these guys. They already rebedded one of the backstay plates. They are supposed to remove them and glass under each one and the entire perimeter of the boat. They thought they could cut around them.

Wow. When you consider the fact that on most long passages, even with minimal spray flying, that separation would intermittently seep water 24 hours a day. To say nothing if you were heeled over on that side it would be a steady flow. It certainly didn’t help that the bedding compound for your toerail seems to have hardened and lost all usefulness at some point in the past. This project should pay huge dividends going forward. Good luck.
