Defender Sale

Post by s2sailorlis »

stopped by the Outlet first thing in the morning...very few folks in store. more workers than buyers. no "mini" trade show area either, although im trying to recall if they eliminated that pre-Covid. stock seemed lighter than normal and way fewer "deal" bins than in days past. the clearance area is practically empty. and the lower area where they used to have lots of clothing just had a few boats, nothing else.

one item i was searching for was a Rolls battery. was surprised that what they had on the shelf was date coded 2020.... will have to call Midstate battery to see if the have anything fresh...

by 11am the lot was basically 1/3 full. i think their emails stating no more than 40 in store and expected lines dampened attendance. Even Friday's it would be full...with cars lined up the driveway

will be interesting to see how the new owners change things up. given that it's private equity owned i fear the outlet store days are numbered...

CT Resident here. Defender has ended the Warehouse Sale permanently and has moved to a weeklong, online model.

It stinks, but that's what happened. In other Defender news, it's been reported the company has been sold to Fortnine, an e-commerce platform for motorsports, and a VC firm, Novacap.

I'm in CT. They had sales prices on Thursday-Saturday. Then it goes online only on Sunday.
