Oil on Troubled Heads

Post by Joe Brown »

The pump handle on my CD-28 head has been sticking and hard to work. I didn't want to pump through some motor oil as some people do (polluting) so I pumped in a bottle of salad oil. Everything works smoothly now. - Joe Brown, "Caprice," Rockport, Maine

You don't need to use a whole bottle of vegetable oil; an ounce or two is plenty!

W&C markets "Head Lube" and it works quite well. I have also used "LESTOIL" which seems similiar to the Head Lube, but is much cheaper (and you can use it to clean fiberglass).
