Replacing a main sail for a Typhoon Weekender

Post by kevin_oconnor »

Can anyone recommend a sail maker that has replaced their mail sail for a Typhoon Weekender?

Try Sailrite

I sewed up my own mainsail for my Typhoon eight years ago for about $500. I was very happy with the sail. It was standard cloth with two sets of reefs. Look them up at Sailrite.com It was great project I did it on my home machine.

I got a new main and jib from cruisingdirect.com and was very happy with them. They were attentive to details and their price was competitive. The difference between the new sails and the previous ones (1971 originals!) is phenomenal - she sails like a different boat.

Where are you located - if near SE Pa I could recommend a good sailmaker and also think Sailrite has a good rep if you're inclined to try it yourself.

Good Luck . . .

From UK City Island it was about $1000 for main-loosefooted, one row reefpoints, insignia and draftstripe, and jib.
