Porthole gaskets

Post by Peter Swiderski »

I need to install new gaskets around my portholes. Any suggestions as to the best type of adhesive I should use?

Thanks

3M heavy duty automotive gasket adhesive.Should be available at most auto supply stores. I replaced all my gaskets;ports and hatches 4 yrs. ago and they are holding up fine.

Porthole gaskets

I used DAP rubber cement that you buy at Home Depot for $1.79 with the brush in the bottle. It worked great 5 years ago and I just re-did them all last month with the same stuff. It only needs to be strong enough to keep the gasket in place as the force from the window will provide the seal. Just follow the directions, let the two surfaces dry and stick them together. Only problem is that you have to be careful to get it right the first time because once you stick it down, it wants to stay.
