CD30 Poweryacht Question

Post by Dana »

My friend just bought a CD30 Poweryacht. He is interested in finding where he can get a replacement for the Hoyt DC/AC power meter which is part of the electrical panel.. Any help out there?

What is the best RPM for the these twin Volvo diesels? TAMD41B engines.

Thanks,

Dana

Try any electronics supply house and see if they've ever heard of it. Let me know if you find out - the adjustment screw on my voltage meter doesn't adjust anything and the meter reads 0.2 v high.

On my boat I either run below 2000 rpm off plane, or follow the general rule of 90% of wide open throttle as the maximum cruising speed for a diesel. I hit WOT at 3650, so cruise between 3100 and 3300 rpm.

According to the Volvo manual, the WOT range for "pleasure duty" and "light duty" is 3600-3900 rpm so I guess the boat is propped OK.

The boat seems to get up on plane around 3000-3100 rpm. I find a bit of vibration in the engines at 1800 rpm so try to stay off that shaky spot. My Volvo dealer says that's not unusual in that engine.

Hi Walt,

I read your comment about the vibration at 1800 rpm. Mine does the same thing! I either run at 1500 or 2000 rpm but rarely in between. At least the boats (or engines) are consistent.
