Typhoon Mast pin/hole question

Post by CentralCA0ceaNut »

On the base of my Typhoon Weekender mast, the stainless steel pin has worn the aluminum mast hole. One side is worse than the other, see images. I was planning on JB welding SS fender washers on either side of the mast to reinforce the pin.

My question is what shape was the hole originally?

It looks like there may be some engineered play to allow raising of the mast. Does anyone know this information or have pictures of there mast hole that isnt as worn?

Thanks,
Ryan

Sorry, I can't share pictures as I've sold my Ty, but I don't recall any play in the pin. The holes were round and the pin itself seemed to be fixed in there very solidly and securely.

Oh, and make sure that the washers you're adding don't make the foot of the mast too fat to fit in the mast step. It's not exactly a tight fit, but it could be one if you make it too wide.
