Searching for a '24 Cape Dory Trawler

Post by Keady100 »

I am a new member to the board and I am looking to purchase a 24' Cape Dory Trawler. I am located in Massachusetts, but willing to travel if needed. I am starting to plan to do the Great Loop solo and think the 24' Cape Dory is the right boat for the trip.

Thanks again for any assistance.

I've been looking for one too, and they rarely come up for sale. Only 17 were made. Good luck!

As Joe mentioned, the CD24 trawler is kind of a unicorn. The CD28 Cruiser is much more plentiful and can easily be single-handed. The wider side decks make going to the forepeak anchor locker safer. I know this wasn't your question, but the CD28 Cruiser model isn't exactly slumming it.

I owned a Cape Dory 24T for 5 years, loved that boat and cried when I sold it to get my CD33 Sloop. Great boat if you can find one for sale. I've seen a few in the RI area over the years. But I would definitely consider the CD 28, would be much more comfortable living aboard.
