Name and homeport replacement

Post by Jim Walsh »

Orion’s sixteen year old name and homeport were looking a bit scruffy so I ordered replacements through BoatUS. The name selection app has numerous choices and the software has a realtime image so you can see what your choices have resulted in…seems complicated initially but very easy to work with.
Orion’s existing name and homeport were removed with a hard plastic putty knife onto which I ground a sharp edge. It worked great but the glue residue still remained. Acetone made short work of the final cleanup and leaves no residue.
Applying the new name is a bit intimidating because you want to avoid creases and bubbles but it’s one of those jobs that’s far simpler than imagined if you follow the application instructions.
